Dec 26, 2007 Updated: Feb 13, 2008Drinking one now. Great aroma of chocolate roasted malt, very slight fruity notes. Taste of a rich dark roast chocolate grains with caramel. Head retention is not what I expected but perhaps unwanted oils from my glass or lips are to blame. This is the best porter I ever had so far. All I can say is "WoW"....The wife liked it because it tasted like fresh ground coffee.

Dec 23, 2007 Pours dark brown with small tan head. Aroma is roasty, with chocolate, coffee, molasses. Robust flavor, and a nice finish. Excellent example of the style.

Dec 23, 2007 Pours a very dark brown with a couple fingers of quickly fading head. Smells very roasty, some chocolate and a hint of coffee grounds. Tastes of sweet roast, a little coffee grounds show as it warms along bakers chocolate and a minor bite in the finish. Light in the mouth with good carbonation. Easy going session beer with a little oomph.

I tried this beer on October 7, 2007 after purchasing from my local LCBO outlet. The beer poured into the glass a beautiful, dark, murky brown colour with a large tan coloured head. The aroma was a combination of malt and yeast with some sweet hints. The mouthfeel was thick and full with some mild carbonation, almost creamy. The taste was malty with some hints of caramel (the possible sweetness in the aroma). This was a very good beer.

Pours very dark, almost opaque black with a small tan head. Smells of roasted malt, and mild coffee and chocolate. Tastes very dry, coffee and chocolate which is balanced PERFECTLY by the Fuggles hops. Impressive combination, though lacking a bit of intensity.
