Commercial Description:
Bottled and (in USA) kegged - pasteurised.
Fuller’s London Porter captures the flavours of those original brews perfectly, although you won’t find a cloudy pint these days! Rich, dark and complex, at 5.4% ABV the beer has an outstanding depth of flavour.
It is brewed from a blend of Brown, Crystal and Chocolate malts for a creamy delivery balanced by traditional Fuggles hops. The range of flavours works well with a wide variety of foods, ranging from rich meat dishes, to oysters, and even chocolate puddings.

Pours very dark brown with a crimson hue and a good sized tannish head. The aroma with creamy roasted malt, milk chocolate, cream and some coffee bitterness. Medium / full body that gets a little thinner towards the finish with semi-sharp carbonation. Starts with some coffee bitterness, dark chocolate and roasted malt. The finish gets sharper with more pronounced bitterness. Good beer.

Coffee/cola dark color. Strong oak, smokey wood smell, very nice. Almost has that oak aged taste, roasty, maple, expresso also noted. Meduim body and very easy to drink. Not very bitter and not very complex as compliments. One of the best, if not the best porter i have ever had, great beer!

THOUGHTS: Nothing spectacular, it just does everything that makes a porter good nearly perfectly. No innovations, just making a beer just as it should be. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark brownish red with and average light tan had that mostly diminished and left good lacing at first then hardly any then back to fair. The aroma was moderate to heavy roasted malt, mild coffee, bitter chocolate and cocoa powder. The only thing that could be better about the aroma would be for it to be stronger. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and lightly bitter, while the finish was heavily sweet, lightly to moderately bitter and slightly sour. The flavor was mostly like the aroma but stronger. There was sweet malt up front and a bitter coffee finish. The medium body was creamy with fizzy carbonation and a moderate astringent finish.

Pours a dark color. Slightly darker than a cola with a red hue. No head at all. Aroma is roasty with some coffee notes. Roasted malt, coffee, some chocolate in the taste. Very nice...a bit thin...definite coffee aftertaste. This is a nice porter.

On-tap. Deep dark brown color with a fading pale brown head. Aroma: Roasted malt, coffee, caramel, chocolate, dark fruit and some smokiness. Flavor: Roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, light smokiness and mild hop bitterness. Dry and creamy mouthfeel. Excellent porter.

Bottle @ The Maltings, november 07. Very dark copper/ black color with some shinny ruby hues and a medium, creamy, beige head. Toasted, roasty flavor with some solid caramel notes, a hint of coffee and some very slight vinous notes. Medium mouthfeel, tasty, malty with a nice coffee finnish. Filling but refreshing and moreish. Some molasses notes on the nose with a slight rasiny touch. Excellent coffesih porter.

Drinking one now. Great aroma of chocolate roasted malt, very slight fruity notes. Taste of a rich dark roast chocolate grains with caramel. Head retention is not what I expected but perhaps unwanted oils from my glass or lips are to blame. This is the best porter I ever had so far. All I can say is "WoW"....The wife liked it because it tasted like fresh ground coffee.

Pours dark brown with small tan head. Aroma is roasty, with chocolate, coffee, molasses. Robust flavor, and a nice finish. Excellent example of the style.
