alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Nov 29, 2007 Updated: Mar 4, 2008On tap; poured a dark cola color with an off white head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, toffee and dark fruit. Flavor was similar to the aroma, but dominated more so by a sweet caramel flavor and dark fruit. Body was a little light, but added a nice drinkability to the beer. Very good example for the style. (Rerated it; pushed it up by .1) BigBeer45 (676), Troy, Michigan, USA Nov 27, 2007 Pours dark brown with brown ruby at the edges with off-white bubbles that fade to a few, lots of roasted malt with some dry dark chocolate aromas,
sweetness in the nose, coffee fragrances here and there, and faint fruit-berry aromas, has the same flavor as the aromas,
lots of roasted malt, some dark roasted malt flavors with some bitter burnt taste that fit in with the other flavors, faint malt sweetness but more on the dry side of the porters beers,
has a medium mouth feel, faint dark roasted or burnt malt bitterness on the palate at the finish that had some overly roasted coffee bean flavors,
has a medium mouth feel and is very easy to gulp down. obguthr (986), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Nov 26, 2007 Nice blend of chocolate, toffee, and currant aromas. Dark mahogany pour with a slow building medium sized tan head. It tastes of smoke, french roast coffee, and charred wood. Sweet espresso finish. Great balance. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Nov 22, 2007 Pours dark brown with ruby red highlights and a tan head. Smells of chocolate, dark fruit (figs, raisins, some plums), some roastiness. Tastes of chocolate, caramel, coffee, some nice peppery splashes, elements of toffee. Mouthfeel is full with a finish that yields a nicely balanced roastiness. portermax55 (118), Canterbury, Connecticut, USA Nov 20, 2007 Bottle into pint glass. Pours a beautiful dark brown with a light tan head that dissipates rather quickly. This beer has heavy aromas of coffee, camp-fire smoke, butter and roasted malts. The flavor is of coffee, malts, burnt nuts, and a slight hint of toffee sweetness. Mouthfeel is a little on the light side for a porter, but this brew is still excellent! bigcat03 (191), Lincoln, Nebraska, USA Nov 17, 2007 Bottle poured into a tulip pint on 7-26-07. Dark ruby brown color with a 1 finger dark tan head. Big coffee note that dominates. Dark chocolate, roasted barley and milk chocolate compliment. Coffee taste initially with some dark chocolate. Can you guess? COFFEE with roasted barley. Body was a little watery and carbonation was very light. A bit much with the coffee for me. I like my porters with a more balanced taste. Not bad though. joohefner (380), Isla Vista, California, USA Nov 16, 2007 dark burgundy with medium dense light brown head. dense aroma of roasted dark malt, mocha and a light spiciness. smooth and slightly sticky body. sweet palate with rich chocolate and prune, light bitterness and smoky spiciness pojo41 (315), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Nov 12, 2007 Bottle. Beautiful dark brown color with a small but, tenacious head with good lacing. Smooth flavor of dark malt and coffee. Aroma of rich dark malts and coffee. I love a good porter and this is definitely one to try.
