Smell is smoky with coffee and chocolate - very appitising. Nutty malty taste with fresh hops adding a light balance. Bitter coffee and plum very well blended and tasty. Quite drinkable. monkeychugg55 (222), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 18, 2009 Pours out a dark tawny, but appears black in the glass. The bone white head retains well and leaves some spotty yet slippery lace. The aroma is rich and smokey. Lots of roasted malt, pipe tobacco, some brown sugar and a hint of coca. Initial taste is sweet and robust. Kinda watery mouthfeel, but very flavorful. KajII (50), Macon, North Carolina, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 17, 2009 Bottle. Poured almost black in color with a big brown frothy head that diminished slowly with nice lacing. Aroma was of a mix of chocolate and coffee malts with a scent of cookies. It tasted of coffee and chocolate with a hint of brown sugar. The aftertaste was nice and smooth and lasted quite a while which I did not mind. Mouthfeel was creamy and full bodied with the flavors blending together very nicely. Overall an EXCELLENT porter. RichardW (251), Carlisle, Cumbria, England
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 17, 2009 An immediate combination of sweet caramel and dark roast malt is very welcome. Good underlyingsharpness. Ruby tinge just discernible in the darkness. Always a pleasure to see on the shelves. MarinaMarket (31), Washington, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 9, 2009 This is how I feel a UK Porter should be. I was underwhelmed by another "famous" British porter, but the Fuller’s brought back my confidence in this style. Rich chocolatey flavor, superb head, and remarkably enjoyable. No doubt I will be having this again! 55F in the can. MrRoss (617), Delta, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 9, 2009 This was lovely, perhaps the best porter I’ve had yet. The colour was a rich, dark colour hinting at the malts and chocolate within, and the enormous head was also top-notch. Aroma and taste again featured both the chocolate and the malt, with little evidence of hops. A most enjoyable, smooth drink. strowlands8 (77), Ontario, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 3, 2009 Looks great tastes great. When I bought this at the local LCBO I really did not know what to expect. Very dark, thin light brown head, big chocolate flavour, with some complexity and a great slightly bitter aftertaste. Hopefully i’ll be able to find this one again. Pawola22 (709), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 2, 2009 11.2oz bottle. Pours a dark brown, almost black body with a reddish tint to it. Thin, light brown head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is medium sweet English malts and roasts with some smoke, chocolate, and fruits. Flavor is roasts and a light smoke, fruity English malts, some licorice, toffees, nuts, and chocolate. A very late hop presence, but not much. Finishes rich and roasty with a medium length aftertaste. Light bodied, somewhat watery but full flavored, and dry. Overall, a solid and classic porter. A bit over-rated, but tasty and full of flavor.
