The best of its style that I have had. Thick and very rich, with coffeeish flavors. Probably the most flavorful porter around.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving a really nice looking foamy clingy lacing sticking around the glass. The smell had a nice sweet to roasty to earthy chocolate maltiness combining wonderfully in a light bitter under current of coffee. Continuing on as it warms, thereís a nice light vanilla arising to complement the rest of the flavors. The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors and combined them pretty well. Thereís no aftertaste but it has a decent dry sweet chocolate finish. On the palate, this one sat right at a medium on the body with a slight sessionability about it. Overall, I say this was a wonderful English Stout to have again.

500ml bottle. Wine glass. Dark amber color with ruby tints to the light. Tan head & slowly dissipated crown. Roasted aromas rounded by chocolaty & coffee hints on the backside & slight burnt caramel notes. Maltous upfront with coffee & chocolate flavors. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. A pleasing beer to look at. Color is deep brown with rubby high lights. Has a tan or beige head thatís about average, nothing special. The aroma is of rich raosted malts some coffee and chocolate. A very good tasting beer that is complex as stated on the label. Starts bitter roasted malt taste, then a nice belt of maybe smokey coffee and some sweet cocoa. Finishes smooth and dry in flavor, maybe even a bit of biscuit at very end. Sweet. You would think that this beer should be thick and chewy but itís surprizing light in body. Not watery. There really is not alot to dislike about this beer. I think the flavor and itís complexity are the best part of this beer. A little bit more foam for presentation wouldnít hurt either too. Drink well my friends
