Commercial Description:
Bottled and (in USA) kegged - pasteurised.
Fuller's London Porter captures the flavours of those original brews perfectly, although you won't find a cloudy pint these days! Rich, dark and complex, at 5.4% ABV the beer has an outstanding depth of flavour.
It is brewed from a blend of Brown, Crystal and Chocolate malts for a creamy delivery balanced by traditional Fuggles hops. The range of flavours works well with a wide variety of foods, ranging from rich meat dishes, to oysters, and even chocolate puddings.

500mL can purchased from LCBO in Toronto. Pours a dark brown with a bit of white head. Light malty aroma. First taste is nice, with a solid roasted malt and chocolate flavours. Nice roasty aftertaste. The canned version recently fared poorly at a blind porter and stout tasting at C’est What - but its competition was against mainly draught offerings.

Excellent porter. My only complaint is it is perhaps a bit heavy with the chocolate notes, however as the beer warms beyond a typical temperature it gains better balance.

Bottle. Given to me by Adamskillin back in July. A very delicous porter. Very nice. Only 1 bottle left, how unfortunate.

An almost black colored beer, with a thick beige foamed head. The aroma caramel, cherries, roasted malts. The taste has little chocolate notes, roasted malts, fruity like cherries and peaches. Smokey bitter and dry. The aftertaste has some bitter and stays for a while.

Bottle from Charles Street Liquors in Boston. Glugs out of bottle a chocolate color, and sits with a one-finger head that dissipates to mere lacing within a minute. Aroma is semisweet chocolate, charcoal/smoke, coffee, biscuit and some licorice. Flavor hits your mouth with a crispness of dark flavors that is very attractive. Palate is dry, with light carbonation. Primary flavors are roasts, smoke and chocolate, but there is definitely a sweeter component that underpins the flavor profile of London Porter. Dark, but just quaffable (palate and flavor) enough to keep this from being a one-and-done type of brew. Highly recommended.
