What a wonderful aroma - dark chocolate/strong coffee, roasted/burnt malts. A little smoky with a hint of alcohol. Dark brown with light brown head. Creamy, full-bodied texture with soft carbonation. Slightly bitter finish but a really, really good porter. Highly recommend.

Oct 8, 2008 What an excellent beer. Surpassed as a porter only by the cask version. So raisiny, with a full alcoholic warmth. Can’t believe it’s "only" 5.4. I’d never much cared for porters until this beer, and it’s taken me this long to rate it.

Oct 5, 2008 Pours deep ruby. Tall, fluffy lingering tan head leaves intricate lacing. Aroma of chocolate malt, very malty and somewhat spicy. Flavor is intricate blend of chocolate, caramel and dark malts, some residual sweetness. Palate full body, creamy mouthfeel, fair bitterness with average carbonation. Is this Heaven?

Oct 5, 2008 Bottle. Poured dark brown with a medium lasting white head. Roasty aroma with some coffee. More chocolate in flavour but mostly roasted malts. Medium bodied.
