Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A clear amber colour with a creamy white head. Aroma of caramel, biscuit, some fruity malt and cereal. Taste of sweet caramel, some citrus fruit like grapefruit, biscuit and nuts. Light bodied, soft carbonation and a smooth texture. A balanced fruity malt finish. A standard best bitter but has decent malt and hop flavours unlike say, Pedigree or Bass.

Cask. Parcel Yard, Kingís Cross. Clear, light copper. Bubbly white head. Sweet, caramel biscuit. Some grassy hop. Soft, creamy mouthfeel. Gives me a headache beer like this. Itís light, but hard work. I canít explain it. Itís probably me. Didnít stop me getting bladdered on it in Manchester, at a boozer that went and got blown up in the bombings. Six pints, I think it was. Quid a pint. Jesus. That was a while ago...

Cask at Fullerís, The Red Lion Pub at Picadilly, London. It pours a dark clear amber colour with a thin white head that disappears quickly. Aroma is caramel, bread malts, earthy hops, some nutty notes and some yeast. Taste is toasted malts, sweet caramel and floral bitterness at the end. It his medium to low body and moderate carbonation. This is a quite balanced and easy drinking English Ale. A real London classic.
