2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 SilkTork (4737) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, - SEP 9, 2004
UPDATED: JAN 27, 2008 June, 2003 Two Sawyers, Kent I usually enjoy a pint of Pride, regarding it as a decent ale. Sadly it didn’t impress on this sample. A firmish, clinging mouthfeel with a nutty flavour, quite beefy. The finish is rather dull. [2.3]
April 2004 <a href=http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/14/147 Eagle, City Road, London. Famous pub: "Up and down the City Road / In and out The Eagle / That’s the way the money goes / Pop goes the weasel." I enjoyed the beer. Nicely fruity. Well behaved. Very pleasing. [3.3]
June, 2004: What The Dick Inns, Rochester. Fruity with mostly neutral palate - just sweet, which emerges bitter in a slow lingering finish. Fruit is orange with some tanginess. Bread yeast nose. Compared with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/beer_name/44926/ the Pride is slightly less fragrant and malty. [3.0]
Aug, 2005.<a href=http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/36/368 Goodge Street. One of the most popular cask ales in London. This is a traditional Best Bitter - fruitier and fuller and sweeter than an Ordinary. More stable than an Ordinary this is usually a reliable stand-by - even when poorly kept this will still deliver a reasonable drinkable experience. When kept well this is a fine ale - gentle fruit followed by a lovely burst of fresh hops giving a lingering dry finish of depth and breadth. It’s worth seeking out those pubs which take pride in keeping their Pride in good condition - such as The Fitzrovia in W1 which dry hops the casks. [3.5]
Jan, 2006 <a href=http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/27/277 Horse, Bearsted. Compared with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/beer_name/44298/ this is dryer, less bitter and has slightly more character. [2.9]
March, 2007Steam Packet, Strood Big burst of malty fruit. Smooth & easy drinking, yet packed with flavour. Enough hops to give bite and interest, but not overwhelm. Tasty. [3.2]
Jan, 2008Men of Kent, Rainham A soapy, middle of the road, average and rather dull beer. Nothing really stands out. I find myself avoiding Pride if there’s something else on offer, and this example is a good reason why. [2.1]
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 a_cross (57) - Poole, Dorset, ENGLAND - JUN 1, 2012
Deep amber gold, no head; well orchestrated fruit, malt and hops; full mouthfeel; lingering orangey citrus fruit and hops in the moderate bitter, dry finish; moreish and above all very well-balanced; that rare thing - a beer which fully deserves its apparent ubiquity.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 teddybeer (770) - Madrid, SPAIN - MAY 11, 2012
On tap. Brown colour with a good formation of a white, dense, creamy and moderate lasting head. Aroma has dry fruits notes, malty and toasty. Flavour is slightly sweet at the beginning, with notes of nuts and hazelnuts and a final creamy, smooth and slightly bittery. Carbonation is soft. Body is medium to high. Texture is oily.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 shoulderbroken (587) - Tokyo, JAPAN - MAY 5, 2012
Cask at the Bridge Bar, Heathrow terminal 3. Thought I had better have one last real ale before emigrating to Japan. Have never liked London Pride much, but was pleasantly surprised! Clear amber colour with small beige head. Aroma is malty, cereal, touch of stink. Taste not bad, lots of malt, bit of cream, very grainy. Not much bitterness, touch of fruit and some nuttiness. Bit floral too. Not half as bad as I remembered it being, but at the same time, fairly bland.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jb (1606) - Rochester, New York, USA - APR 24, 2012
At a pub close to our hotel we chose because of free Internet. Nice dark orange. Lots of a nice lacing pattern. Barman wastes lots with the cask pour. Mild hop nose, mildly bitter palate, decent and local.

Cask. Amber with a white head. Possibly the archetypal example of a Brtitish bitter. A decent session beer.

Spicy fruity aroma and thick head, a nice pale ale. Like Bass with flavor and a prettier look to it. Traditional.

Very normal bog standard bitter. Nothing to write really. I think Fullers are overrated. Though I did enjoy their ESB plenty.
