Tad sweet, nutty, and very much what I think of as a winter beer. Good stuff.

This is a real old man's drink - you can truly taste the woodbines and false teeth. Rich and woody. Lovely!

UPDATED: MAR 24, 2005 Bottled, Pateurised. Deep orangy brown colour with a short lived head. Good bitterness and hop astringency and a dry tobacco flavour.

Deep brown. Light hop nose. Medium malt sweetness, medium hop finish. Light alcohol heat. Well balanced

I almost didn’t drink this beer - the label said "Best by 14 Sept 01", a full year and four months before I drank it. So, my rating is with a grain of salt. Very reminiscent of apple cider in aroma and flavour. Lingering bitter finish. Caramel notes.

The thought that comes to mind to me is apple cider. It smells like it, and tastes like it, with some nice bitterness. It has a nice deep amber color, and a slight white head, that lasts for about half the glass.

Wonderfull even though my bottle was a year old. Great hop character balanced perfectly by a sweet brown malt. Hard to find but 100% worth the hunt.

Head starts like rising bread, but disappears after about a minute. Aroma is really malty, dried fruit/prunes, roasted malts and a slight amount of hops. Flavor of overdone prunes and roasted malts. Sweet start, bitter/roasted finish. Interesting.

Nut brown. Nice hoppy aroma. Sweet, medium bodied, somewhat roasty. Bitter finish. A lovely, well balanced winter ale.

I expected this beer to have more depth and body, with a lot of spice and strength. In reality it was hoppy and bitter. Nowhere near as good as some of Fullers other drinks (try the London Porter).
