2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled. Deep orange body, thin head. Strangled hops and a dust of spice in the nose, decent maltiness soon replaced by a thin feel in the finish and slightly plastic tang. Not brilliant.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle sample. While called strong the 5.3% ABV is not of course the strength you would get from a new world type of old ale. There are some comparisons to be made to Samuel Smithís nut brown but most are not as positive. Definite caramel nose and toffee like flavour but the expected warming qualities are a little lacking. A good beer nevertheless and one that I would accept a few more of if offered.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled: Amber coloured. Clear. Dense light brown head. Malt, sweetness and chocolate in the aroma. Flavour is sweet and light hopped. Ends on a light bitter note. Easy to drink, but a little too bland.
