UPDATED: APR 7, 2008 2008-04-01. Dark amber brown body with a small white head. Mild malty aroma, sweetish (6+). Sweet malty flavour, light caramelized malt, light bitterness balancing it. Smooth average to medium palate. Not overly complex, but a very nice drinkable beer that I could see settling in for a few of. On tap at Beer Bistro, Toronto

Tap @ Beer Bistro, Toronto. Deep amber color, aroma is somewhat sweet with mild hop presence. Didnt really come across too much winter type flavor. Overall, a decent English style ale

Draught @ beerbistro, Toronto, ON: Passed up a DFH 60-minute for this one; figured I can always get DFH but I hadnít seen this one on tap before. Came pretty dark in colour, decent off-white head that didnít last long. Aroma is mild, every so slight sweetness to be found, a bit bready. Flavour was far less pronounced than Iíd expected, and altogether a little boring. Good enough sweetness, spicing, hops. Average, and Iím surprised to note I preferred my previous libation, the Beauís Bogwater. Go figure, didnít see that one coming.

Tap, Beerbistro: Very malty, high on the caramel factor with a bit of spice, alcohol is very apparent but itís still a silky, drinkable beer with a somewhat bitter finish. Really tasty, nothing too fancy, just a good one.

It looks good, with some foam on a cloudy yellow. It smells good, with mild spice. There is above average mouthfeel. A tad like an old ale, but other than this there is nothing special.

Draught. At BeerBistro. Beautiful pour, bright and the colour of hand-rubbed red oak, incredibly thick, milky-creamy and lasting beige head (tupalev wondered if maybe nitro?). Sweet nutty malt aroma, redolent with light floral acidic UK hops - not overpowering at all. The taste followed right on, somewhat dry, dusty floral and sweet, a surprising amount of floral bitterness in the finish - reminded me some of Belhaven Wee Heavy - reminded tupalev of a milder, sweeter version of Fullers Vintage 07. Chewy, light bodied and crisply astringent on the tongue, it had only mild carbonation, but finished smooth, if somewhat quickly. Very malty indeed - a good winter pint.

On tap at beer bistro. Looks great, dark orange, creamy thick white head. Nice aroma - fruity, some hops, even a little nutty. Taste is solid - lots of dark fruit, raisin, plum, followed by sharp fruity hop. Thick creamy nitro like body that still allows taste through. Lots of dark fruit as it sits, sharp hops in the finish. Very full bodied and warming, alcohol present. A solid fullers that tastes a little like a mild version of a a recent vintage, which is a compliment.

A kind gift from Mes. The colour of the buttons on a geography teachers suede elbow patched cardigan. A Camra member perhaps. Not bad, quite pleasant in my emerging love for English ale. Slipped down well.
