Bottle, ambre with an orange glow and a small off white head. Slightly fruity and malty aroma with notes of coke. The taste is dry and plenty of hop sensation

500 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in an English pint. Pours clear copper with a small off-white head that quickly fades, leaving trace lace. On the nose, there are notes of candied fruit, sherry, toasted malts and English hops. The flavour is lightly sweet up front with nutty malts, toffee, spice and fruit. A moderate bitterness enters through the middle, with notes of floral and leafy hops. These are accompanied by notes of sherry and candied fruit. The finish is long and dry with a nice hoppy bitterness. On the palate, it is medium in body with a thick, creamy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a nice English strong ale. The malts are a particular strength, nutty, complex and elegant. A well-balanced, well-constructed brew. 2011-11-21

Rich amber. Malty aroma of caramel, cinnamon and clove. Hints of hop grassyness. Light mouthfeel. Nutty flavour, little caramel sweetness followed by a lingering and very bitter metallic finish. Wasn’t quite what I was expecting. Doesn’t finish well with me at all.

I tried this beer on November 18, 2011 after purchasing from the Queen’s Quay LCBO outlet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent golden red colour with a generous off-white head that stuck around. The aroma was wet grains, floral hops, toffee, and spice. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was slightly sweet malt, hints of spice, and a citrusy hop finish. Very good beer.

Spab (1196) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 18, 2011
500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear dark amber with average-sized light tan head. Aroma is a somewhat mild toasty nuttiness. Flavour is decidedly more pronounced with toasty caramel malt, nuttiness and a little fruit. Average body; relatively gentle carbonation. Solid but Fullers has lots of better beers.

Pours copper with a nice head. Aroma caramel, nuts. Taste sweet caramel and some malts. Spicy aftertaste. Not the best of Fuller’s products, but Not Bad.

500 mL bottle. (bb 10 oct 12). Dark reddish-copper with a small off-white head. The aroma is mild and very malty. The flavour is nutty-toasty malt. Nothing too exciting, but very solid.

Dark amber, small off-white head (might have been a bit too cold). When it finally starts to warm up there’s a pleasant malty aroma of molasses and a little fruit. Very sweet up front but it gradually gives way to a mild bitterness. Charming.
