Bottled. Dark almost ruby coloured beer with a strong head. The aroma is hopped and slightly caramel and the flavour is very strongly hopped with a long dry caramel finish. Overall a well structured beer.

500ml bottle. Pint glass.Enjoyed on dec´11. Bright copper color. Clear. Off-white ,medium size bubbled, froth. Creamy crown with good retention.Yeast, herbes, slightly spicy with grape notes to the nose. Sparkling upfront followed by dry nutty bitterness.Mildy toasted malts & smooth resiny with pear hues. Medium body, soft carbonation.Fruity aftertaste. Very pleasant drinkability, refreshing & flavorful. Comment: when in doubt order a Fuller´s one even not being the best of theirs you will never regret it.

Bottle. Strong malt , raisins and almost prunes, resiny, fairly pleasant aroma. Orange-red with little head and sad thin lace. Slightly metallic sort of burnt malt flavors, a bit of tail end hop burst. Fades very quickly. Light to medium body. Sort of harsh aftertaste, leaving a stinging sensation on the back of the tongue. Not entirely unpleasant, but i really wouldn’t want to drink more than one at a sitting.

(500mL from LCBO) Pours a clear deep copper with an inch of fluffy white head. Aroma not too strong, dominated by sweet caramel malts with some fruit and a little nuttiness. Flavour is sweetish caramel and grain from malts, a some nutty notes, and a core of dry, bitter but not particularly flavourful hops. The finish is dry. Carbonation is soft and pleasant, but the beer is oily and not as rich or full-bodied as I hoped. Seems more like a dark bitter than a strong ale.

Bottle: Poured a light amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry caramelized malt notes is interesting. Taste is dominated by dry malt notes, maybe a bit too dry and almost astringent. Some fruity aromas are also easily noticeable though harder to detect when tasting this beer. Body is about average with good carbonation. Good but a bit too dry for my own taste.

Appearance Copper/amber. Pours a moderately thick head. Aroma Caramel sweetness, malt, toffee. Taste Starts as a typical English Bitter, but a toffee-like sweetness overwhelms quickly. Tastes like an English winter by the fireplace! There’s plenty of hops lingering about too, the mixture of different hops creates a nice balance. Overall I’ve missed beers like this, I tended to drink much more of pretty standard English bitters when I lived in the UK, but much less so since I moved back to Finland (and in the US), for obvious reasons. Not that this is a standard bitter; it has a more complex hops profile and the crystal malts create a lot of sweetness, appropriate for a Winter/Christmas Ale

500mL bottle from LCBO. Attractive clear reddish brown. A pleasant, but very weak, aroma; can hardly smell it at all. Taste is good; slightly sweet, creamy, and smooth up front, leading up to a hoppy bitter bite in the end. Nice English ale.

A deep amber beer with a nice beige little foamy head. Very interesting nutty notes with a little spicy, caramel, malty flavour. Bitterness is enough just to balance the rich maltiness. Very easy to drink in the cold winter nights.
