Ingevara (466), Hindås, Sweden Dec 12, 2005 Dark brown. Full mature aroma. Small head. Had this beer with a meal of meatballs made from reindeer mince and spiced with juniper berries, and that was a perfect match. The juniper flavor is evident in the beer also, together with a marked bitterness and a littlel bit of sugar, just enough to enhance everything else. Fuller’s never seem to disappoint me! harrisoni (5331), Ashford, Kent, England Nov 1, 2005 50cl bottle from Pitfield Beer shop. gorgeous russet colour. Lasting tight beige head. Lovely aroma of rich malts with berry fruit, toffee adn some choc and also vigorous hop. Full in mouth and then sensuous warming malt, more choc and toffee and then assertive hops to balance. Another wonderful strong Fullers beer. pilsnerrogge (1609), Finspång, Sweden Dec 19, 2004 Reddish amber colour. Medium head. Hoppy aroma with a light touch of liquorice. The flavour is nothing but hops, and there’s nothing wrong with hops :-) bark (255), Linköping, Sweden Nov 15, 2004 The colour is deep copper red –wine red. The foam is beige, finger thick and quite firm.
The smell is malty, sweet and rich with hints of dried apricot and nuts.
The carbonation is soft, yet refreshing. Small bubbles.
The taste is dominated by a full-bodied malty flavour combined with a solid bitterness. There are notes of dried fruits, nuts and a sourish touch. A grand taste of bitter hops with a metallic touch dominates the long lasting aftertaste.
A very complex beer with lots of unruly tastes that works fine together. lockman (29), Somers Point, New Jersey, USA Jan 1, 2001 A beautiful amber ale with a sweet, malty nose and flavor with a mild hop finish. A very enjoyable brew.
