Aroma: heavy caramel malts, alcohol. Appearance: dark brown, small to medium white head. Taste: medium to heavy sweet. Palate: alcohol again, sweets intensify, massive malts, light bitter towards the end. Overall: nice English Strong Ale, however, the aroma and palate of alcohol is not very subtle. Bottle at Cat and Canary, Canary Wharf.

Bottle, bought @ LIVA, Kolding. Pours nice, deep chestnut with a medium, staying, creamy, off-white head. Aroma has caramel, toasted, grass, a touch of smoke. Medium carbonation, fine creamy and light dry mouthfeel. Flavour is quite sweet, brown sugar, dememera toastiness, light smoke, lots of heavy liqourice. Lingering quite bitter finish.

From a bottle. Nice and beautiful dark color with thick white head. Not so much aroma in my opinion but the taste is smooth and malty.

UPDATED: APR 6, 2015 500ml bottle (ALEhouse, Riga) (7:4:7:4:15=3.7
Strangely latvian aroma, in the grains, a little milky. Fairly simple palate, a little sweet, but crisp carbonation cuts through that. Those latvian malts are there in the taste too, but itís nice. Nice marmaladey retronasals, sweetish, but lots of sweet mixed peel. Finish is nice and resiny, but not too sticky at all. Sweetish, but not sugary. Very nicely balanced. Hoppy Has room for more aging, Iím sure - letís put a year on our other bottle.
Rerate: 500ml bottle (ALEhouse, Riga) (6-:4:7:4:13=3.3)
Pretty messy aroma, a bit milky and stale, some dry nut papers. Improves with a bit of warming, sweetens and mellows. Looks lovely, chestnut brown and a tight head. Tastes lovely, a chestnutty sweet nuttiness, walnut too. Soft palate, gentle carbonation. Lightish, not saying 7.3% at all. Mellow nutty finish. Has lost a lot of what was good when it was young. Should either have had it 6 months ago, or waited 5 years.

Bottle, 11C. Reddish amber with a beige head that settles to a cm and sticks around. Aroma of prunes, toffee, apples, herbs. Medium bodied, low carbonation, fairly prominent alcohol. Sweet with a long moderately bitter, herbal and somewhat astringent finish. Lots of dark fruit and some toffee, but comfortably avoids heavy. Classy and coherent but not all that compelling.
