COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, special.
1966 Strong Ale, the fourth in the series, is a bottle conditioned ale brewed to a strong ale recipe from 1966 when it was drunk during the celebration of England’s victory in the World Cup. This warming, dark ruby ale has a rich rounded flavour with notes of plum and a velvety warm caramel finish.

It says ruby on the label and that’s a good reflection of the truth. Ruby to polished mahogany in colour with a skim of head and evident sparkle. Very rich aroma of plums, figs and steamed pudding. There’s some amber resinous quality and ripe autumnal fruits as well. It really is a complex aroma. A sweet, oily body and elegant flavours. Just a suggestion of bitterness but long finishing because of the mass of malty flavours. Indeed, malt is the superstar and begs for me to have more of this.

ladne opakowanie, to przede wszystkim stylowa etykieta nawiazujaca do owczesnego piwa. Stara receptura dajes sie tu zauwazyc przede wszystkim juz po pierwszym lyku. Piwo jest tresciwe gozkie i jakby lekko stechle pachnie zarowno mokra wilgotna scierka jak i podsuszonymi morelami. Kolor ciemno bursztynowy, piwo o skromnej pianie. Delikatnie wysycone. slodowosc uboga ale suszona trawa daje znac w koncowce pozostawiajac dlugi wytrawny finisz. Calkiem inne piwo niz wiekszosc ESA

500ml bottle shared with the wife on 30th Aug 2014, drank in The Old Joint Stock, Birmingham. Really enjoyed this semi-sweet malty brew and re-living 1966 again (was too young to drink then though). Lovely colour and texture, deep, dark amber, off-white crown and a smooth feel throughout the drink. Malty molasses vie with a mixed bag of dark fruits in both the nose and taste, the alcohol well hidden within the flavours. A very good beer and one i would gladly have again and again.

Trevlig öl med något kryddig smak. Skön maltighet och lagom bäska. Fullers gör det igen. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2014 Bottle from Alko Arkadia, Helsinki. A color of dark ruby with a medium-sized head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is malty and fruity, the former element featuring sweetish caramel and bread and the latter dried and dark fruitiness, especially raisin. Taste is medium sweet with drier bitter notes making a brief late cameo. This is definitely malts-oriented. Dark fruits, caramel and some sweetish bread and nuts appear. The palate is medium to full bodied and very smooth. Solid British quality all in all.
