COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First seen as a one-off cask release at Ealing beer festival in July 2012. Released in bottles in August 2012.
The third beer in the Past Masters series was first brewed on Thursday, September 10th 1931. The origins of the Old Burton style have changed over the course of the 20th Century, but this version is brewed to the authentic recipe - a true recreation of a wonderful long-lost beer. A rich, golden ale with a big malt character and an incredible balance of sweetness and warmth on the palate.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours mahogany brown-red, a looker, with a thin layer of scum that never settles. The aroma is lovely, dried fruit, delicious. The taste malty sweet, a good dose of crystal malt backed up by a surprising hop bitterness. The bitterness stays on for a while. The texture is super soft, in fact, the smoothness on the tounge is better than the taste itself. An excellent beer from a classic brewery.

500ml bottle served in a tulip glass. A: Pours a dark amber color. Beautiful and clear. Forms a small creamy and thin bubbled light beige head. Good retention and many small spotty lacings left in the glass S: Sweet caramel grains and flowery hopys, basically. Notes of dark fruits and alcohol T: Follows the nose. Slightly sweet caramel malts upfront. Toffee, roasted malts, dark fruits and bready yeasts. Nice dry hoppy bitter end M: Medium body and medium to low carbonation. Bittersweet aftertaste. Caramel malts and English hops O: Good drinkability. Not the best from Fullerís but still a enjoyable Ale [ BA Review @ 3/26/2013 ]

(bottle) Hazy, dark amber colour with a beige medium-sized foamy head. Dark malty, moderately toasted malty taste with nutty notes, caramel, dried fruits (raisins) and a tinge of alcohol. Mildly sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Dark malt character with notes of dried fruits, caramel and hoppy spice in the background; sweet-bitter, toasty and mildly fruity finish with a touch of warming alcohol. Likeable and rounded brew but not as exciting as expected. 04.VII.14

Excellent big ABV with a nice head. Resins and some sweetness with astringent alcohol burn in the back ground. Overall nice for a wintery evening.

Bottled. Rubyish brown colour with a mediumsized slightly off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, some mild bready and toffeeish notes along with a nice herbal, grassy and floral touch to it. Flavour is floral, grassy and herbal along with mild alcohol and some sweet malts as well. Very balanced and pleasant to drink.
