COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned.
The second in the series, this Vintage Ale was based on a Champion theme with the addition of Champion Alexis malt and Champion Northdown aroma hops. The result is a sweet, warming, creamy ale that is beautifully balanced.

No: 31867. Heavy malt, dark fruity aroma. Not as thick on the palate as I expected but maintains drinkability alongside its smooth texture. Malts from start to finish, port-like flavors, yeasty with some dryness. Maraschino cherries add extra sweetness with a lingering jammy aftertatse while a considerable alcohol warmth wraps things up.

Bottle#38344.Aroma of sweet malt and alcohol. A little caramel in there also.First sip brings a huge creamy mouthfeel. Malt is dominant with just enough hops to balance. Sweet aftertaste.Alcohol is very evident for an 8.5 abv.

11/12/03. Poured out of 16 oz. bottle, enjoyed in a tasting at Hi-Time Wine Cellars 11/12/03. Very thin, cream-colored head. Lightly hazy amber body with beautiful lacing; terrific appearance on this beast. Nose follows with more of the same-- very rich with malts, oak, almost a bourbon or cognac maltiness, some sweetness of fresh honeycomb, and a little dustiness from the aging. Very elegant. Flavor is then a bit of a letdown, bitterly woody and a little off-putting with its muted sweetness-- it seems like the malts haven't aged as elegantly as we'd have liked, giving off sort of a candy corn sweetness with a bit of an alcohol undercurrent. Finish is dry and very long, leathery and nicely mellow, once again very pleasant but just like the initial flavor, it's not as elegant or delicious as the nose and appearance promise. A mild disappointment for me.

Bottle at Toronado in San Francisco. I was pleased to see this on the bottle menu. Nice hazy orange pour with a little creamy head. Raisons, apples, and some dark fruits dominate the aroma. Crisp taste. Caramel, some hops, and malt in the flavor. Definitely a treat to have for sure! Aged very well.

This is a good English Strong Ale. Caramel, earthy wood, and malt flavors. Finishes clean, smooth, and warming.

Bottle no. 14221. Pours a clear copper color with an excellent off white head and lacing. Mineral/earthy, grass, and malt in the nose. Pleasant earthy malt profile in the flavor with notes of leather and caramel as well. Good beer.

Bottle #40415. Deep copper-amber in colour, long lasting beige head, great lace. The aroma still has lots of caramel, some ginger, wood, earth and chocolate. The flavour was peaking, caramel malt sweetness, christmas cake, dark fruits, brown sugar abd raisins. Think mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation, Finishes with a lingering bitterness, creamy.

Bottled@Akkurat, Stockholm. Deep ruby red colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is vanilla, caramel malts, some hops and wood. Flavour is plum, sraisins, alcohol with some vanillaish notes in the background. Flavour is much more plum, alcohol and wooden than the 97 vintage.

Bottle. Imbibed 2008. Red, purple, brown with a small head. Aromas are bready and yeasty with soft berries and bubblegum. Some raisins and chocolate, too. Flavours are sweet caramel and toffee malts with chocolate and raisins. Smooth, rich and vinous with warming alcohol. Very peppery on the finish. Very good.
