The Champion theme was used once again for this classic Vintage Ale with Champion Fuggles and Champion Optic malt. Slightly redder in appearance, this ale is full of body with a sherry-like flavour.

Absolutely fantastic. Very strong alcohol aroma upon opening, not nearly as overwhelming in the taste. I find the scotch qualities quite enjoyable. Very well malt balance. Iím so glad I have another bottle.

Yeah, it was great and all, but didnít seem all that different from the Fullerís 2001!

Sweet malt nose with some toffee-like aromas. Smooth malt start, full complex middle, just enough bitterness to balance the ímaltinessí. Smooth finish with some very predominate alcoholic warmth (good stuff) looking forward to tasting 2000 & 2001 with the SpyDog!

Toffee tasting with a welcome alcoholic bite. Someone said butterscotch flavor and I would have to agree. Full body. Cool packaging. Soon will try the 2000 and 2001.

Unreal. My bro and I are visiting our mother for the weekend, we go to Gingerman in Houston, and they have this stuff!! What a nice surprise. It came in a very elegant box and was quite nice, especially as it warmed up. Exquisite maltiness, the sweet tastes were great as the caramel lingered into the end. Wonderful! And so, this concludes the story of how I had ratebeerís #1 and #2 beers in less than 24 hours.

Very fine aroma of hops, caramel, butterscotch. Flavor follows w. the same, full of malt, toffee and butterscotch, yet also fruity. Finishes with a nice note of bitterness. Clean, sweet, rich, excellent overall.

Yep, damned near perfect. Sweet, almost rum-like nose. Extraordinarily smooooooth flavor--sweet, but not cloying, with notes of caramel and cream or butter. A real ídesert islandí brew.

Just a pleasant ale. A lots of malt flavors with a good hops balance. Not particularly complex, but age may help.

The parts were all there...most definitely. Aroma was so subtle and fantastic and full. The presentation of this thing, from the packaging to the beautiful thin wispy head that remains after the pour, is wonderful. Delightfully complex flavors that others have mentioned, and it is very well balanced. But I echo at least one other comment that it seems barleywineish to me, and seems far stronger than the labelís 8.5% indicates. In fact, my major beef is the big alcohol presence throughout beginning, middle and end of this syrupy, silky, full-bodied experience. It just wasnít for me. Aging might soften that?
