3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ungstrup (23960) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 8, 2003
[Sampled November 7, 2003] The aroma is sweet malty with notes of alcohol and caramel. The color is dark amber and it has a small fast disappearing head. The flavor is sweet and malty with strong notes of caramel. A fine beer but not the best Vintage Ale; '97 and '01 are better.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Papsoe (22985) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 15, 2005
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2005 (Bottle 55 cl) Bottle # 05335 - sampled in 2003. Amber-coloured, hazy withouut much head and pretty flat in carbonation. Bottle conditioned. Extremely full-bodied, sweetish and malty - you really DO taste all the good ingredients in this. Appears like a very good vintage port. Simply great. 211203
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 yespr (22207) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - MAY 2, 2008
55 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden and amber with a slowly collapsing off-white head. Light woody and wineous aroma. Flavour is wineous and overripe fruity with a smooth caramel malt base. Interesting shift from sweet to medium dry flavour. Slight bite before the finish. Very smooth and balanced. Utterly impressive, HUGE thanks to Ungstrup for these rare gems.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 oh6gdx (16047) - Vasa, FINLAND - JUN 19, 2006
Bottled. Runy red colour, mediumsized brown head. Sweet caramel and plum in aroma. Flavour is alcohol, plum, malts and some yeast. Once it becomes a bit warmer the alcohol is more present (this I didn’t notice on the 2005 version). Palate is good, but the alcohol makes the beer a bit sticky when getting warmer. Overall the alcohol is sadly a bit disturbing in this 1999 version.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 omhper (15964) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JAN 3, 2002
Red-brown. Very malty, vinuous, full bodied, bitter, complex.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 fiulijn (10405) - Como, ITALY - JUL 14, 2002
UPDATED: APR 7, 2005 2002-07-13 Amber colour, thick collar of foam. Wonderful hop and malt aroma; it’s very complex and surprisingly persistent; getting warmer it develops some wallnut notes, lovely. Powerful body, malty, sweet in the beginning but well balanced, soon, by the hop, that introduces to a very good, quite long, not too much bitter final. It gets better while getting warmer, loosing a strange unfinished/metallic sensation; but the hopping is worth this (expensive) brew.</br>I simply love the perfect marriage of hop and barley in the mouth.
2005-04-01 The aroma is sweeter, with fudge; the taste is more mellow, honeyish, with sweet nuts and a lot of sweet caramel.
