COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned.
85,000 bottles of Vintage Ale were produced with an organic theme, using Champion Optic Malt and Organic Target Hops. A fresh hop aroma with notes of honey and toffee, leads to a slightly sweeter taste and burnt, bitter aftertaste.

Bottle, 55cl. Bottle # 04479. It pours a clear, copper colored body under a half finger thick beige head leaving lacings. Caramel and some oxidation in the aroma, with hints of camphor. A pleasant dried fruit scent as well. Thereís a pleasant bitterness to deal with the mostly malty flavor. Beef stock, caramel, some oxidation and dried fruits, and a little alcohol hint. Full-bodied, pleasantly carbonated and with a mostly bitter finish. Less complex than the 1999 bottle, but certainly nice anyway. 120106

Botte at Kookfest 06. My favourite of the series. Hazy deep chestnut, lasting beige head. Hoppy but not as much as the 2001. Lovely creamy texture, quite harsh on end. Still intense and almost overpowering. Honeyish, bit of whisky. Great hop.

55cl bottle. Finally I got a reason to open this bottle. Pours amber/orange with a full creamy white head and lacings. Nose is sweet and vinous. Lots of port, dark fruits, caramel and sugar. Quite earthy, a bit mouldy/matured as well. Full , creamy and smooth body. Medium carbonation. Oily, slick and sticky. Taste is vinous and has loads of caramel, dark fruits, sugar and a hint of liquorice. Bitter end. Maaaaad Nice!

Bottle at PapsÝís - Thanks. Clear amber/reddish/brown - white head. Sweetness, nutty, berries, light oxidation, herbal, raisins, light burned and roasted malts, walnuts, caramel, oakey.... Tjaaa.

Ruby red brown color, small beige head. Clearly "vintage aroma" - dry woody and oaky nose. This is quite Fullers ESB -like, oaky with hops and malts and some licorice. Palate is a bit liquerish in the finish. Hoppy and slightly alcoholic aftertaste. I am not sure if this has changed a lot in the ageing, it feels more like a beer, which stays good. Age is mostly evident in the aroma. Good beer.

Sampled 2003: Hazy orange-amber; caramel and malt. Earthy, twiggy hops. Lemon rind dryness in the finish. A good age.

(Bottle, No. 37701) Pours a hazy copper color with a creamy off-white head. The Fullers Vintage ales are some of my favorites. Aroma of caramel, toffee, and fruit. Flavors caramel, plums, and alcohol. Quite the delight!

Bottle at Casparís Running Toilet Tasting. Pours rich auburn with a foamy, off-white head. Strong leather nose, some dark fruit, slight tang. Quite a sweet flavor with palpable oxidation, robust leather, slight must, candied fruits, and toasted sugar. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish with a bit more sting than even younger vintages, lingering leather, some tangy fruits, a slight ístalenessí that isnít altogether a bad thing. Has surprising kick given the age. Nowhere nearly as mellow as 2002-2006. Quite a departure from the other years.

(Bottle No. 49914): Huge beige head atop a slightly hazy copper body. Aroma is strongly malty -- sweet, caramel, raisin, nutty, toasty. Taste is sweet, caramel, scotch, raisin, earthy. Finish is scotch warming. Full body. Could still use a bit of aging, but even at this point it's a very nice beer.
