Bottle Conditioned.
85,000 bottles of Vintage Ale were produced with an organic theme, using Champion Optic Malt and Organic Target Hops. A fresh hop aroma with notes of honey and toffee, leads to a slightly sweeter taste and burnt, bitter aftertaste.

boxed beer, donít be fooled, far better then Franzia. Hoppy aroma with sweet notes here and there. Red, radiant amber color with a frothy head. Utterly Mind Blowing. Perfection as far as balance is concerned. Intense hop bite from time to time, damn this is good. This is a beer I could sit back and enjoy again and again. Alc packs a punch. This beer is blending so well with the 9-29-00 Vegas Phish show were lissening too I want to cry. Or maybe its because I just finished it.

Bottle #72749 sampled 1/02/03, my first review of 2003: Pours a beautiful amber/copper color with a fluffy white head. Tiny bubbles rise to the surface. The nose is brandy like. Flavor: Start is syrupy sweet caramel, toffee and a little harshness from the alcohol (sometimes I like it a little rough around the edges) much like a barleywine, finish is smooth and sweet with a slight hop bite. Lingering mouth watering aftertaste. Warms your face as well as your tummy.

Improper glassware, I'm so soory, but we were simply victims of circumstance, I was at the mercy of Wisconsinites (thanks John). A hazy orange/amber body, a rich and thick tan head, very dense. Ripe fruits, rich & full, berries and subdued alcohol with some spices as well. Tastes of woody hints among a BIG lightly roasted barley flavor. Full mouthfeel, creamy and smooth all the way through, carbonation is perfect. So complex, a dry finish, well drawn out and very deep. Yeast, hops and alcohol are in perfect synchrony, a bit more malt character and whammo! I'd be knocked on my ass, GREAT BEER!!

Bottle #56537 Soft white head which leaves moderate lacing and sits on a ruby red full bodied beer. Smell is of the classic fullers yeast with lots of malt hints of hops and slight alcohol. Very smooth despite the 8.5% abv.

I think 2000 is better than 1999. 2000 has more citrus and less flavor like bisquit.

Pours slightly cloudy copper with minimal head. Aroma is strong of fruit and caramel. Soft carbonation with a sryupy mouthfeel, i like it. I like it alot. Kinda barleywineish.

Bottle (500ml #60963). Shared with blankboy and Dave B - courtesy of Dave B. Poured cloudy deep mahogany with a large off-white creamy-foamy. Aroma very resiny and musty roast malt, tons of yeast, some hop bitterness, almost a hint of childrenís glue but in a good way. Taste - also awesome - nice blend of roast malt, woody. Mouthfeel creamy, mossy, not quite lively but not flat. Terrific - top 50 for sure. Thanks for this one, Dave!

Bedankt Belgbeergeek. 50 cl. fles gedeeld met Belgbeergeek & Sebletitje @ Belgian Ratebeer Winter Gathering of Ultimate Evil. Fles nr.

This was an unbelievable treat courtesy of Geoff Griggs, whom I owe a debt of thanks. Tasted at 14 years old and this beer has kept incredibly well in that time. It had perfect clarity and colour, a beautiful light mahogany with essentially nil head. The initial impression of the aroma was a slightly fungal one, maybe botrytis without being the least off-putting. There was muscatele grapes, some walnut woodiness, marzipan, mildew and Amontillado sherry. A fortified wine like flavour that encompassed all the aromas and a wet grain characteristic. Utterly remarkable as much for the remarkable company as a beer I shall always remember.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2016 MARCH 2016. Quite close to the fresher 2012 vintage weíve had at the same tasting, but certainly less malty and a bit old, dusty and oxidized. After all these years, thereís still a bit of hops there in the finish. Not as mind blowing as I remember it the first time, but still excellent. 9-4-8-4-16=4,2

JULY 2015. No. 53697. Hazy amber, tan head. Super intense and complex - dried fruit with oxidation sherry notes that balance the big sweetness, a touch of warming alcohol. Silky smooth mouth-feel. World class. 9-4-9-4-18=4,4
