An amazing tasting brew. I don’t know if I have ever tasted, smelled or looked at a finer brew.

Tantalizing, radiant, mahogony colour with a medium, full, off-white head. Oh man!! The aroma is subtle, yet very complex: vinous with currant, also some toffee, butterscotch, a bit of British yeast phenols in there as well. The flavour is equally complex, yet not quite as subtle: toffe, whicky, butterscotch, a bit of hop flavour towards the end. Blended oh so well, very mellow, yet very complex and extremely drinkable, the 8.5% ABV is not evident at all. Spot on!!
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 jerohen (1863) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - JUN 7, 2003
UPDATED: MAR 21, 2004 Re-rate: Three years old, bottle eight hundred something. Fantastic complex beer, malts, caramel, honey some spices and port-notes. Too bad this is so expensive, otherwise i'd have a bottle of this all the time. Original rating: (4.1) Number 788. Fantastic aroma of malts and some fruit. Small head. Complex flavour of hops and malts, perfect bitterness. Good.

Not bad. I was hoping for a little better based on the buzz about the 1999 vintage. It’s a tad strong, and feels more like whiskey when you drink it, but all in all, a good pint.

(#18432) Pours a dark amber color with a thick, off-white head. Loaded aroma with parts of prunes, molases and barley. The taste starts sweet but finishes dry and bitter. Lots of alcohol and barley notes, but very balanced! I loved this one, more so than the 2000 which is past its prime, in my humble opinion.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 grat (433) - ST. Louis, Missouri, USA - AUG 3, 2004
What a medicinal treat. Pours a nice deep caramel hue. Lacy head. Smells of bourbon, juniper and strong medicine. Flavours match this with the medicinal end being the most prevalent. A serious find and a good treat.
G-rat
