COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned.
50,000 bottles were brewed using a traditional recipe of Target, Challenger and Northdown hop varieties. The taste is rich with notes of marmalade, raisins and Christmas cake; the spicy hops well balanced with a pleasant bitterness.

Bottled number 27154, courtesy of chris_o. Pours a nice copper body with a small whitish head. Nose is malty with alcohol notes, raisins and light caramel. Taste is big alcohol, rum soaked fruit, big malt and caramel. Body isnít the thickest but has a nice warming feel to it. It works itself out. Finishes with more malts, more alcohol and caramel. Good beer, but I think another year would mellow this nicely.

Bottle from the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Places/ShowPlace.asp? target=blank>Fullerís Brewery in London, England in May 2005. Bottle #15901. Rich copper colour, long lasting beige head, cool puffy lace. The aroma was sweet, lots of caramel malts, christmas cake, fruit cake, apples, some floral hops and small amounts of alcohol. The flavour had some hops (pine mainly), lots of sweet caramel malts, cookies, the alcohol is starting to disappear with this vintage. Dry mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes with a lingering medium bitterness, slightly dry. Nice.

Poured a fizzy mahogany with a small fizzy/frothy off-white head. Aroma of red wine grapes, dark fruits, a bit of piney hoppiness. Flavor follows with fruit notes, biscuit and toffee, a bit of alcohol. Body starting to feel a bit thin and flat after four or five years. Overall still has a nice flavor profile to it, even if perhaps a tad degraded.

Bottle conditioned. Amber bronze, moderate white head with some lace and low fine condition. Low hop, malt and orange in the aroma but all quite muted. Quite dry and thin in the mouth with a hint of malt whisky and a suggestion of oakiness. Drab hop bitter finish with some trace alcohol notes. Very dry, thin and disappointing, not up to the usual standard but still drinkable nonetheless.

Bottle #31435. Vegetal, musty, green, caramel, more smoky aroma (compared in vertical to 1999, 2002, 2004 vintages). Also a brand-new poncho vinyl edge. Very drinkable, nevertheless, as the flavors are more sympathetic renditions, with some fruit and typical caramel complements. Orange with reddish huges, good head. Not as rich but a soft carbonation doesnít intrude.

Bottle #31435. Nose smells very similar to fresh vinyl. Smells like a newly unfolded vinyl tent. Medium bitterness with a low to medium malty bitterness. Thanks to maelb and Kevin 42.

(Bottle, No. 31435) Pours an amer body with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, and plastic. Flavor of mild hops and sweet malt. Could use some more aging.

Reddish brown colour with an off white head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel hints and a light fruityness. Nutty caramel flavor with a fairly dry finish.
