Commercial Description:
95,000 bottles were produced for 2004's Vintage, which once again employed a traditional approach, this time brewed with Goldings hops and Maris Otter malt. Distinctive cherry notes are evident, before a warming finish that mellows with age. Also limited availability in the Cask, mainly in the London area.

I put 8 of these away back in 2004 and this is the first one I’ve had. Why did I wait so long. This is an incredible beer. Heavy malt, toasted, nutty, light yeast, dough tawny port, nutmeg aromas. Nice frothy head. Mostly clear, but a littel opaque, reddish-brown color. Lots of dark fruit in the taste.

Bottle. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Amber colour. Heavy malty light hoppy aroma with strong honey notes. Moderate sweet/bitter flavor. Long finish, not as powerfull licorice notes as hoped. Creamy palate.

Aroma of apples and red wine. Reddish brown body, with a thin head. Medium plate with noticeable carbonation. Lightly sour, and extremely vinuous. Dry finish, not what I expected.

Tasted in 2007: Amber Color with Off White Head. Dry Cask Malt and Fruity Aroma. Heavy Mouthfeel...Smooth and Creamy. Most Noticeable is an Underlying Dryness to the Beer...Like an Effect From Aging in Wood. Strong Malty Presence..Some Light Raisin/Fruit Notes. Bit of a Grapey Tang. Nice Strong Ale...Nice Warming. Overall an Enjoyable Ale.

Amazing woody fruity aroma at the start that dissipates over time into something more like the beer. A full creamy head. This is way different than any of the others and it seems a bit off. Just doesn’t sit well.
