Commercial Description:
95,000 bottles were produced for 2004's Vintage, which once again employed a traditional approach, this time brewed with Goldings hops and Maris Otter malt. Distinctive cherry notes are evident, before a warming finish that mellows with age. Also limited availability in the Cask, mainly in the London area.

No. 72725. Thin, though capuccino-ish creamy head on top of a pretty vinous amber. Extremely complex nose including caramel, dates, eiswein, and brandied prunes as well as just the slightest suggestion of orange peel and clove. Flavour is soft and raisiny, dark brown sugar (although the sweetness is very subtle and well balanced), touch of banana bread and cabernet franc. An absolutely fantastic beer.

Texture like port or sherry...and some similar flavors as well. Dried fruits/dates/raisins/caramel/and toffee. Some brown sugar and maple syrup also noted. Pretty strong alcohol finish.

1 pint, 0.9 fl oz; bottle 67074. Has a copper color with a small foamy tan head and some to no lacing. Aroma is cherry with an apple touch and maple sweet flavor. Alcohol is a bit strong with a heavy bitterness, dry and moderate sweetness, caramel and maple malt, with many different fruits that creates a wonderful flavor. Dry palate that bites just a bit.

1 pint, 0.9 fl oz; bottle 67074. Pours copper with a small foamy tan head and some lacing. Aroma is fruity port and hop (berries - cherry), caramel malt, maple and brown sugar with trace yeast. Alcohol, yeast, heavy bitterness, dry, heavy acidity, moderate sweetness, caramel and maple malt, almost a cherry cough syrup. Full bodied, dry and spicy palate.

Bottle no 01713, sampled 1/2006, thanks to fiulijn - clear reddish-amber colour with a fine little head; aroma of red fruits and bread, yeast; very robust malt body with a strong bitterness, long fruity and hoppy finish with a warming alcohol touch

Dark amber/brown, a bit hazy. Malty taste with lots of toffee and dried fruit: figs, raisins, apricots and dark cherries (tastes like my mom’s christmas fruit cake). A very nice and well balanced bitterness blends well with the fruit and at the end, the alcohol comes through with warmth and a touch of sweetness. Not as sweet as you might fear though. Beautifully balanced beer. I definitely love it.

#72154. What a georgeous beer! Clear red-brown body with a foamy white head leaving soapy lacing. Fruity aroma - cherry and wheat bread. While the aroma seems a bit weak and dry the flavor really shines. There’s a sweet milk chocolate malt througout the flavor with cherry and banana-esters up front leading to sweet caramel malt in the middle. The finish has a touch of green leaf and bread yeast and a hint of satisfying alcohol. Rich mouthfeel w/o a sticky feeling.
