Commercial Description:
95,000 bottles were produced for 2004's Vintage, which once again employed a traditional approach, this time brewed with Goldings hops and Maris Otter malt. Distinctive cherry notes are evident, before a warming finish that mellows with age. Also limited availability in the Cask, mainly in the London area.

Bottled - sampled December 2007. A deep red beer with a medium tan head. The aroma is sweet and vinous with notes of plums, alcohol, raisins, berries, caramel, and malt. The flavor is sweet malty with vinous notes of prunes, alcohol, rhum, caramel, and spices. Nice one.

(Bottle 50 cl) Bottle #34629. Pours a hazy, nutty brown with a small, off-white head leaving some lacework. Aroma of prunes and overripe fruit. Quite full-bodied with lots of dried fruit accents - prunes in particular. The alcohol is extremely prominent in the finish also suffering from a somewhat brutal bitterness making this version less round and subtle than previous vintages. 020707

Bottle. Light brown colour, no head. Looks very flat. Semi-sweet, peppery. Could use more flavour. Not good enough for a beer with this high ABV.

Bottled. Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is raisins, caramel and toffee. Flavour is caramel malts, some alcohol, raisins and some spicyness. Not much vintage notes in this one yet, but will probably become such within a few years.

Shiny copper colour. Aroma is heavy caramel, toasty viennaish malts, a little mineral. The palate is richly caramelly, with lots of brown sugar...rich, syrupy. It has its moments I suppose but isn’t really to my taste.
