95,000 bottles were produced for 2004ís Vintage, which once again employed a traditional approach, this time brewed with Goldings hops and Maris Otter malt. Distinctive cherry notes are evident, before a warming finish that mellows with age. Also limited availability in the Cask, mainly in the London area.

Bottle conditioned, No. 04824, 500ml from Sainsburys in Banbury. Brown to toffee colour with cream head. Rich fruity flavours with a port like smooth body, some dark caramel notes in a homogenous but heady mix. Sliky rich finish, very decent.

Bottled. Have decided to drink these vintage ales around their 3 years birthday, and it seems to be a good idea. Dark reddish brown coloured. Unclear. Dense brown head. Prunes, light alcohol, light caramel and some liqourice in the aroma. Flavour is Nutty, has prunes, apple, vanilla, light chocolate and some other ripe fruits. Very smooth and rich. Full bodied. Dry. Is fruity and light sweet with a touch of alcohol on the palate in the end. Very nice. Enjoyed on my patio watchin the sunset over Bangalore, which off course dosnít make the experience less delightful.

Bottle #58410. AMber, somewhat hazy, with a nice offwhite head. Great aroma from malts, milky, creamy, toffee, vanilla, nutty notes, some figs, some fruit and with milk chocolate. Malty flavor, some glue, toffee notes, hops are more present than it was in aroma, strong malty finish without letting alcohol through. Whisky notes in flavor. Classy bottle, classy lable, classy beer....

Bottle #21825: Hazy, foxy-brown, lacy off-white head; solid sweet fruity aroma (dried fruits) with a robust "english" hoppy backbone and a tinge of marzipan; solid, very solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied; increasing hoppiness in the fruity (some liquorice, too and a tinge of alcohol) and toasty finish. Lovely thirst quencher......

568ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki)
Dry grainy aroma, really nutty. Soft carbonation. Very dry palate. Raisins in the taste accompany a rich malt with loads of dry nutty papers. Some plum too. Do add some of the sediment - it adds to the aroma and the taste - bumps up the fruitiness. The hoppiness is very bitter, and quite biting. The finish is dry and aged, and very very long. Great hoppy bite and great balance. And great raisins.

hopscotch (8529) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 20, 2004
Crystal clear, beautiful, copper ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. The aroma is of caramel and golden raisins. The flavor is malty and sweet, but not cloyingly so; not even close. This comes as a surprise as this beer is "red hot" right now... 2004. Instead, the brew is very well-hopped to produce a semblance of balance. Full-bodied and syrupy with lively carbonation. Long, astringent, lightly bitter finish. I canít wait until 2010 when I open the second bottle I purchased.
