Commercial Description:
95,000 bottles were produced for 2004's Vintage, which once again employed a traditional approach, this time brewed with Goldings hops and Maris Otter malt. Distinctive cherry notes are evident, before a warming finish that mellows with age. Also limited availability in the Cask, mainly in the London area.

55cl bottle. Trade with Bierkoning. Thanks. Having tasted 05,06,07 the expectations were high with this one .. Poured hazy deep amber/orange with a off white creamy head. Matured & sweet malty aroma - caramel, plum & quite vinous. Low carbonation. Very round, mild, soft, sweet & balanced mothhfeel & taste. Lots of dark fruits, caramel & a vinous/port feel. Oily & sticky palate. Pleasant warmth from alcohol. Ends slightly dry. Just a damm great vintage ale!!!

7/1/08 Bottle #65,545. Aroma is greatly rich with molasses, alcohol and plum notes. Appearance is hazy tan with a surprisingly good off-white head. Flavor is strong with a roast malt sweet/sour note forward, followed by syrupy dark fruit. Mouthfeel is medium/full bodied with a low but biting carb texture. Overall, very good, and could even age a bit longer. The loss of the remaining carb texture would not hurt this a bit.

Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 01-31-2007 17:04:20 2004 bottle consumed 01/30/2007. nice ruby red color with a nice white head that faded quickly. The smell was very nice and reminded me of raisins or plums. The taste was very complex and difficult to pick out exact flavors but fruit came to mind. The mouthfeel was smooth and the drinkability was awesome. I really can;t tell the difference between an old ale and a barleywine. I thought this was an English style barleywine. Anyway, I have a couple more bottles of this and I will probably not crack another until 2010.

4yr old bottle. Tasted at Sean and Ryans party, and compared against 2000 and 1999. Everybody, including myself, prefers the 1999. I think they are similar though. I think the 1999 by chance has held up a bit better than the 2000. Darkest amber color of the 3. Mildly sweet and malty. Pretty good.

Thanks to Dedollewaitor. 50 cl. bottle. Deep orange colour with a creamy little head. Aroma and taste: wood, dark fruits, matured, sweet, caramel and nearly vinious. Low carbonation. Mouthfeel was sticky and smooth. Good experience!
