jjpm74 (2875), Connecticut, USA Jul 7, 2008 Pours reddish copper with a thin tan head. Smells fruity with some sugar, caramel, toffee, hints of earthiness. Tastes of sweet malt, light spice, some roses, caramel, toffee, a touch of alcohol. Sme vanilla on the finish. Nice! Bradrcr (554), Renton, Washington, USA Jul 3, 2008 7/1/08 Bottle #65,545. Aroma is greatly rich with molasses, alcohol and plum notes. Appearance is hazy tan with a surprisingly good off-white head. Flavor is strong with a roast malt sweet/sour note forward, followed by syrupy dark fruit. Mouthfeel is medium/full bodied with a low but biting carb texture. Overall, very good, and could even age a bit longer. The loss of the remaining carb texture would not hurt this a bit. arrogantb (20), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 9, 2008 Serving type: bottle

2004 bottle consumed 01/30/2007. nice ruby red color with a nice white head that faded quickly. The smell was very nice and reminded me of raisins or plums. The taste was very complex and difficult to pick out exact flavors but fruit came to mind. The mouthfeel was smooth and the drinkability was awesome. I really can;t tell the difference between an old ale and a barleywine. I thought this was an English style barleywine. Anyway, I have a couple more bottles of this and I will probably not crack another until 2010.
EHSRanders (678), Randers C, Denmark Jun 9, 2008 Bottle. Hazy amber colour with large creamy white mostly lasting head. Nice malty aroma. Sweet spicy flavor. Warm alcohol finish. wetherel (976), Carlsbad, California, USA May 17, 2008 4yr old bottle. Tasted at Sean and Ryans party, and compared against 2000 and 1999. Everybody, including myself, prefers the 1999. I think they are similar though. I think the 1999 by chance has held up a bit better than the 2000. Darkest amber color of the 3. Mildly sweet and malty. Pretty good.
