Earthy hops in the aroma together with caramel and moussey fruits. The taste is more of the same. Nice strong vinuous feel. Good but not as good as the 2004 vintage I drank last new years eve. This has more of a barley wine feel than others. Beer2000 (1865), Kristiansand, Norway

Aroma is sweet malty, dry fruit, caramel and alcohol. Flavor is the same as aroma with a hint of liquorices in addition. Complex and nice, maybe just a bit on the sweet side for me. ilovedarkbeer (1369), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 30, 2007 Pours reddish amber with a decent sized tan head. Smells of hops, malt, and sugar. Taste like sugar but the taste has a bit of a medicinal taste to it. That is my only gripe, everything else about this beer is quality. travita (1970), Frisco, Texas, USA

Good, thick and chewy palate. With a few exceptions, I still can’t really get into this style. gunnfryd (3643), Kristiansand, Norway

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 10, 2007 Picked this up a few months ago at Brawley’s Beverage in Charlotte. I figured I better try this one now because I was worried it could go past its prime if I waited too much longer. Pours out a deep amber color with hints of red in it. Head is tan and bubbles up fairly thick before dissapearing down to a ring after a few moments. Aroma is dates, caramel, raisins, and chewing tobacco. Taste is very nice, with highlights of caramel, raisins, some oak, and again chewing tobacco. Very deep and well blended flavors. I think this beer is drinking very well right now and is at it’s perfect age. Hops have dissapeared by now but the flavor is amazing, even more so after it warms. I couldn’t help but to think that this beer tastes very much like an old ale. Just a thought? Good beer, I feel this one may be a bit underrated. OleR (2128), Oslo, Norway

Aroma of dried dark fruits, caramel, port, wood and alcohol. Medium sweet malts and dark fruits in the flavor. Distinct hopbitterness. Notes of alcohol. Near full-bodied. Vinous mouthfeel. Dry finish. Nice. (Bottle @ RBNAG’07)
