COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Floor malted Optic malt; Fuggles and Super Styrian hops.
Edition of 100,000
This full-bodied vintage is brewed with Fuggles and Super Styrian hops that create a tapestry of rich, spicy flavours. Orange, citrus and fruitcake notes are all present, and are balanced well with the biscuity, creamy malt flavours leaving a soft and warming finish.

Bottle #54356. Slightly hazy reddish brown. Decent cap that remains a thin blanket. Aroma of raisin, plum, caramel, alcohol, fig. Taste is sweet, and slight umami. Palate is medium carbonation, smooth, creamy, warm slightly dry finish. Held up great.

(Bottle 06414) Slightly hazy reddish brown with tiny short-lived tan head. Pleasant aroma, primarily toffee with hints of raisins, port and burnt sugar. Full-bodied, slightly oil, slightly sticky giving lovely rich smooth mouthfeel, with fine prickly carbonation. Rich warming taste. Rich toffee sweetness is the dominant flavour. This is partnered with raisins and alcohol, reminding me of Tokay. There’s some burnt sugar bitterness in the background providing balance. Maybe a hint of plums or prunes. There’s a little bitterness in the finish, but it more burnt sugar than hops. A very fine strong ale.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2015 Vintage 2006 (opened in 2015) Pours a chestnut red ale, with some foam that dissipates quite soon, which is only normal after 9 years of ageing. The smell is quite rich, with caramel sweetness and a very strong brandy feel up front, followed by dried fruit (figs and raisins) and a hint of alcohol. Smooth texture with light carbonation, warm to the feel, it tastes like caramel, toffee and dried nuts, and also figs and brandy. The finish and after-taste are slightly bitter. The alcohol is perfectly incorporated in this ale - it’s present in the smell as well as taste, and feels like it belongs.

Bottle breached on 06/21/15. Pours cloudy amber with very small white head. Nose is complex. Apricot, dates, caramel, sherry, vanilla, orange on the tongue very late. Malt sweetness is intense. Not bitter. Caramel cream mouthfeel. There are spice notes maybe nutmeg? It is BLOODY good.

330ml bottle tasting alongside a 2004 @ 12th Shrewsbury Bottle Share, April 15 courtesy of Mike. More fruitcake here than the 2004. The aroma seemed a little stunted at first but really starts to shine the more it stands. Lovely and complex, and much smoother and more drinkable than the 2004.

Bottle 25578 shared along side a 2004 version at the 28th April 2015 Shrewsbury Bottle Swap Meeting (five of us). Brown with not much of a wispy head to mention. Fruit cake with nuts in both the aroma and taste, not as smooth or mellow as the 2004, but getting there: still a very drinkable beer and a joy to try.

Árpaborhoz hasonlatos árnyalatban tetszeleg a koros angol főzet, melyhez a leírás alapján csakis a legnemesebb összetevőket használták a mesterek.

Bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a clear amber color with a thin soapy off white head. The aroma was sweeter caramel, ripe fruits and yeast. The flavor has sweet caramel, doughy malts, ripe fruits, some citrus, decent. The mouthfeel is smooth and somewhat viscous. Good to try once.
