4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Enjoyed this one at a holiday celebration with Armed, Pete Howe, and Bill Small. Aroma is sweet and fruity, with some dark malt and brown sugar. Taste is rich with spices, brown sugar and some citrus. An excellent beer that I always save for a special occasion. Serial number 86351.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at Casparís Running Toilet Tasting. Pours clear amber with a light, white head. Mild nose, some leaves, light must. Medium sweet flavor, some booze, toasty sugar, light caramel. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish, notes of plum and fig, mild caramel, sugar, some alcohol. Pretty nice, but could actually probably use a few more years to soften the edges.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
[500ml bottle courtesy of cgarvieuk] Slightly darker than the 2002 (sampled alongside), deep red with a thin lacing. Some carbonation. Harsher alcohol aroma. Rough round the edges, not sure this has aged well at all, still a fair amount of raw alcohol in evidence. Unfortunately, really not that great

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle 15902 at a cgarvieuk tasting. Sampled side-by-side with the 2002 version. Dark reddish copper, larger head than the í02. More alcohol on the nose too - something chemical, some spice too. Drer (but not dry) palate - rough alcohol, earth, slightly sweet finish. Very harsh, not doing it for me.

500 ml bottle from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. No. 41890. 25MA11.
App.: Slightly hazy deep copper with a decent off-white head.
Aroma: Quite fruity, a little nutty, some dark dried fruits and brown sugar, slight molasses notes, sherry, some treacle, a bit of earthy, floral hops, slight wood notes, a little tired but still quite enjoyable.
Palate: Medium+ body, moderate effervescence.
Flav.: Berries, dark dried fruits, some bright fruit notes, brown sugar, hazelnuts, sherry, dark rum, treacle/toffee, a touch floral, alcohol, decent; off-dry with some alcohol and enough bitterness, a decent fruity, dark dried fruit finish.
Pretty good, 5 years later.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours a clear amber body with a small white head. Aroma is cognac, wood, caramel, hints of booze and complex malts. Taste is matching, a complex, smooth blend of delicious sweet caramel-type flavors - just the way I like my strong British ales. Yummy!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Opened this last night thanks to my buddy Jesse! Pours a hazy golden orange with a very thin off-white head that dissipated pretty quickly. Aroma is bready and citrusy. Flavor is subtle hints of orange, pear, caramel, and leather. Four years really rounded out the flavors into a very complex, delicious beer with a velvety smooth texture and nice aftertaste! I feel like I should have drank this with a good book and a pipe in front of a fireplace! Really well-crafted and balanced! Excited to crack open my 2008 in the next couple years.
