COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Floor malted Optic malt; Fuggles and Super Styrian hops.
Edition of 100,000
This full-bodied vintage is brewed with Fuggles and Super Styrian hops that create a tapestry of rich, spicy flavours. Orange, citrus and fruitcake notes are all present, and are balanced well with the biscuity, creamy malt flavours leaving a soft and warming finish.

Bottle care of Chris O. Tawny brown, almost clear. Nose is marmalade, bit of orange citrous, spicy orange peel and alcohol. Taste is marmalade, spicy orange, alcohol which is quite raw, but again this is crisper and fresher than the older ones and for me getting closer to optimum condition. Still some hop and herbal bitterness. Itís light and less cloying than the older versions.

Yum time. Burnt orange with a medium sized off white cap. Wonderful fruitcake aromas swirl out of my glass, dulled cherry pie, strong and commanding at all times. Mellow fruity spice and brandy. Very nice - no oxidized notes. The taste is not that far off form the aroma but for once, at least for me, the flavour supersedes the aroma. Mild spice that hints at some alcohol, a marzipan-like chocolate, crust, there is bitterness - after 5 fucking years there is still bitterness - amazing! Light fruit sweetness, a bit drying, faintly caramelly, rum, dried fruits of some kind, old apricot (whatever that tastes like), yum. Drinking this too quickly dulls or numbs my precious taste buds. Smooth feel, good carbonation, some alcohol and bitterness on the finish. Excellent.

500 mL bottle. Translucent ruby-orange with a medium, beige head. The aroma is ripe fruit (peaches & apples) and sweet caramel. The flavour is very impressive - perhaps the best Vintage Iíve tried, with fruit (add some tangerines) and caramel, bitter herbs, spice, honey, and raisin bread. Body is very good. This has held up remarkably well.

bottle from plan-b (R.I.P). Cloudy brown, large creamy offwhite head. cake, citrus, spices, malts, fruits in the quite complex aroma. Also a mix of booze and spices. Flavor is licorice, spices, brown cakes, malts, spicy hops, fruity note. This bottle does not seem to be going downhill even though itís 5yr+ old, and best before 2009.

Enjoyed this one at a holiday celebration with Armed, Pete Howe, and Bill Small. Aroma is sweet and fruity, with some dark malt and brown sugar. Taste is rich with spices, brown sugar and some citrus. An excellent beer that I always save for a special occasion. Serial number 86351.

Bottle at Casparís Running Toilet Tasting. Pours clear amber with a light, white head. Mild nose, some leaves, light must. Medium sweet flavor, some booze, toasty sugar, light caramel. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish, notes of plum and fig, mild caramel, sugar, some alcohol. Pretty nice, but could actually probably use a few more years to soften the edges.

[500ml bottle courtesy of cgarvieuk] Slightly darker than the 2002 (sampled alongside), deep red with a thin lacing. Some carbonation. Harsher alcohol aroma. Rough round the edges, not sure this has aged well at all, still a fair amount of raw alcohol in evidence. Unfortunately, really not that great [15102011]

Bottle 15902 at a cgarvieuk tasting. Sampled side-by-side with the 2002 version. Dark reddish copper, larger head than the í02. More alcohol on the nose too - something chemical, some spice too. Drer (but not dry) palate - rough alcohol, earth, slightly sweet finish. Very harsh, not doing it for me.
