Commercial Description:
A classic Vintage Ale with an aroma which incorporates spicy hop notes with rich fruit character and leads on to a very full malty, fruity, sweet palate which has a surprisingly clean finish coupled with a matching bitterness.
I have handcrafted this beer from the finest Fuggles, Target and Super Styrian hops, Maris Otter malted barley and of course, our unique yeast to create a truly extraordinary unique brew. - John Keeling, Brewmaster

Bottle # 136119: Cloudy amber w/ a small beige head. Aroma holds some sweet malts & hops. Picking some alcohol too. Flavor: Sweet malts, alcohol & oak. Gets better as it warms, much smoother. Will have to try this one again.

Bottle #31642. Caramel malts yielded seamlessly to dry hops. I expect the hops will diminish over time but what’s there now isn’t overwhelming or unpleasant. Some tea-like flavours, too, and nicely balanced overall. A slight alcoholic burn going down, but the overall vibe was mellow. Low carbonation and a chewy medium body. Highly drinkable now, despite its youth.

Bottle 115020 poured into a pint glass. First thing first, I payed 26 dollars for two of these; really steep priced but highly advised by a buddy. Pours (yeast for bottle conditioning and all) a great rich amber, slightly hazy with some good (but not over-the-top) carbonation. Great fluffy, thick, slightly off-white head. I’m congested and can smell this from the glass: aromas of fruit, malt, a hint of hops in the background (smells kind of like Hop Ottin’ IPA by Anderson Valley but with less hop distinction). Great flavor; more hoppy and less fruity than I expected from reading ratings. Hops all over the nose with an alcoholic haze enveloped in a thick maltiness. The alcohol is prevalent (especially for an only 8.5) but is not intrusive; it warms and adds hints of bourbon to the overall flavor. It is thicker and heavier on the palate than expected, very pleasing. Overall: very good beer; I got two of these and am interested in what will happen to the other as it ages, seeing as it is a hop dominated beer when young and hops fade. [RE-RATE] with a little more than a year on it. Bottle136533 into pint glass at cellar temp 50F. This thing seems to have more of an alcoholic bite that before... weird. Not overwhelming, but pretty bold. Obviously most of the hops have faded. It had an almost Belgian candi sugar sweetness to it. Overall, this isnt as great as I remembered it (or just not as good aged as fresh), but is still pretty tasty bold stuff. Definitely a winter brew with the alcey bite! Im not gonna change my original rating (4.1) though because it was damn good fresh!

Bottle #136119....Cloudy light copper, looks a little peachy...light beige head....aroma is sweet malts with spices...I smell some nutmeg, and a childhood flashback--baked apples with cinnamon on them...Initial taste is reminiscent to wood used for aging (oak)...I taste some vanilla and bitter sweet malts end this beer, as I end it as well...body is average, and alcohol is well disguised...this beer has more potential and I will try it after aging and re-rate

Poured a lightly hazy amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, caramel malts, spicy hops, and dried fruits. Taste of caramel, light nuts, toffee, citrus, faint pine, and a light bitterness. Velvety mouthfeel.

Thanks to egajdzis for sharing this one. Pours a mostly translucent amber with golden notes and a smaller bubbly off white head. Aroma of tea, caramel, nuts, sweet malts and toffee. Flavor of malty sweet notes, nuts, toffee, floral, lightly fruit notes and tea.
