Dedollewaitor (3625), Odense, Denmark Jan 16, 2008 50 cl bottle. Actually my first fullers vintage ale, though the rest of the bottles in the series is within my reach. Poured into my girlfriends "De Ranke" glass. Poured amber/copper with a creamy off white head. Wonderfull aroma of dark malts, caramel, alcohol and quite a bit of hops. Low carbonation & a medium (full bodied) filling smooth body/texture. Overall good balance, not as sweet as expected and a lot more hoppier than expected (Fresh hops). Light warmth from alcohol. Sticky palate. Perhaps a "sipper style of beer", but I could drink this all night! Dope! Cant wait to taste the rest! Quevillon (1519), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada Jan 14, 2008 Bouteille #07345, acheté au LCBO de Rideau et King Edward (Ottawa), le 12/01/08. Belle couleur cuivre, mince collet. Thick head, nice lacing. Sweet aroma with notes of hops, pine wood, soap and alcohol. Sweet and thick flavour with notes of hops and salty liquorice. Alcohol bitter finish. MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Jan 13, 2008 LCBO bottle- Pours deep copper, unleashing a thick and sturdy beige head. Very spicy and malty aroma with quite a bit of hops as well. Candied raisins, sherry, wood, deeply infused malts, and the hops are quite spiced up and floral. This particular vintage tastes a little less complex that I remember other years, but I’d need to do a side by side to make sure. It’s pretty sweet, but not as thick and full as I remember other years. There’s lots of chewy malts still, fresh, shining hops, lots of assertive spices, caramelized sugar. Medium body, full flavour. Very good. LordCrabapple (83), Merseyside, England Jan 12, 2008 Ouch! Bitter, then sweet and rich. By Jove! I have to say I’m stumped by this one. Lady Crabapple was not too impressed; I’m afraid I might have to differ with her on this one. I rather liked it! I have had two bottles of this peculiar brew, but am saving four for a later date. I seem to recall that the 2006 was a little sweeter, a little less bitter. But I’m not at all sure. Well, I really enjoyed this, almost as much as the Coopers vintage ale! ScoWRee (275), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 12, 2008 Pours a merky light Brown, Iced tea color, with a very thin tan bubbly head. Aroma is fruity and malty. Taste of hops, fruit, spice, a little watery, Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England Jan 9, 2008 Bottle from Waitrose. Sharp carbonation. A strong, sweet barley wine with caramel and bitterness in the finish. Will probably benefit from aging but still a fine beer when fresh. grant (792), Long Beach, CA/Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jan 6, 2008 Bottle shared by DYCSoccer 17. Amber color with voluminous piled head. Earthily malty aroma, warm caramel. Sweet malty flavor, dusty, herbaceous hoppiness. A bit dusty and duller than I remember past vintages. Surprisingly uncomplex and thin.
