Commercial Description:
A classic Vintage Ale with an aroma which incorporates spicy hop notes with rich fruit character and leads on to a very full malty, fruity, sweet palate which has a surprisingly clean finish coupled with a matching bitterness.
I have handcrafted this beer from the finest Fuggles, Target and Super Styrian hops, Maris Otter malted barley and of course, our unique yeast to create a truly extraordinary unique brew. - John Keeling, Brewmaster

Bottle no. 135686. Thanks to Keith (who will probably never ready this) for providing the sample. Since I already rated this, and ratebeer dropped the writeup, I’m not doing it again.

Poured from imperial pint bottle into pint glass. Comes packaged in a nice commemorative box. Slightly cloudy, golden amber with dense off-white head. Aromas of malt and toffee with dried fruit which becomes more pronounced as it warms. The higher ABV(8.5%) is not really noticeable except for the warming feeling. Light to medium mouthfeel. A bit slick and sweet on the finish. Definitely not a session beer; but should be poured into a snifter and sipped to enjoy all of the subtle nuances.

Bottle 34691 courtesy of piscator34 (thanks again, it was cool to share a beer with you!) Poured a light orange color and carried a pleasant citrus smell. As a person who enjoys bitter beers, this was right up my alley. Bitterness went well with the almost sweet grapefruit overtones. Would definitely purchase it for cellaring if I come across it in local stores.

This smells creamy, a hint of rye almost. Very good. The flavor is sweet but not strong. Very tasty and drinkable. I really like this, more than many of the others.

Bottle. Number 118382. Hazy copper pour. Aroma is that of toffee, floral hops, spices, some citrus fruit and sweet malts. Taste is spicy and floral hops, citrus fruits, some medicinal notes, toffee, and light custard. Body has a creamy carbonation to it on top of a medium body. There’s a lingering aspirin like bitterness and a menthol like medicinal feel on the palate. It’s definitely odd. Finishes with more spicy and floral hops, stronger bittering hops, toffee, citrus fruits, touch of caramel, sweet malts, and light alcohol. Different, but tasty!

Delicious fresh florishing start, rich fruity middle with syrup and happy hops. Mighty malts, dry and bitter end. a good life. Should’ve bought another botttle to reserve for later.. and to try after a year.

Many thanks to Odeed for this. Pours a nice amber hue with a decent head and lacing. Not a whole lot going on in the aroma. A little residual hop aroma and some sweet toffee notes. Light lemon rind, toffee, bread yeast, and just a pinch of phenolic character. Quite a bit of rough bitterness and some fusels make me wish I would’ve laid this down for another year. Then again, with what I’m tasting - my particular bottle probably wouldn’t hold up. A bit rough on the finish with more fusel character coming to the forefront along with the general "green" character of the bottle. I’d say, if you have a bottle lay it down for another year and see how it turns out.
