COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our 12th Vintage features two of our favourite English hop varieties, Northdown and Challenger. These, combined with floor malted Maris Otter malt, produce a rich fruit aroma laced with dark orange hop notes. A full luxurious mouthfeel is finished off with a satisfying alcohol warmth.

Pours a light orange-amber with a brief head. Aroma is very sweet - malty and fruity. For the first time in my memory, Fullers Vintage Ale tastes like an American barleywine. Strong malting bordering on astringent with just enough hops to give it an herbal but not overly bitter edge. Present alcohol (for a change). This is definitely a departure from the norm, and will age well. Reasonably thick body and good carbonation. Interesting!

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2009 Number 28720...To the eyes: Syrupy looking. Orange/amber hue. No head, really..... On the nose: Brown sugar, crisp. More sugar... Some herb notes with orange peel and toffee. Quite basic. Nothing spectacular..... Flavour: Ridiculously sweet and malty, hardly anything else gets through. Some alcohol bitterness. Almost zero finish, except more sweetness. Not very awesome. Just sugar...

Bottled. My friend bought me one for Christmas, so we each had one. Poured and looked good. Strong boozy flavor, nearly barleywine like. Maybe this needs some time because it seemed really hot.

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2010 Original Rating, 12/22/2008: Dark orange, brownish color with a thin head. Aroma is a little earthy, kind of musty, moldy in a good way, and mossy. Flavor is strongly dried malt, lots of barley. Dusty. A solid fresh hop and vinous bite, plus pretty much everything from the aroma. A very solid Vintage Ale. I will be happy to try this one again in a couple of years. 8/4/8/4/17

Re-rating, 10/14/2010, Bottle 126546: Dark orange, brown color with a medium head. Strong orangey aroma. Lots of caramel and bits of toffee. Very bready flavor. Thick with malt. Quite fruity. Very light chocolate. Full bodied, slightly dry. Noticeable hops, mostly earthy and spicy. Same score.

Bottle No. 04764. Pours a amber orange with a good slightly off white head that slowly dissolves. Aroma is spicey, malt, soft bread cookie and alcohol. The flavour is top notch, malty toffee base, with a alcohol sweetness, some gingerbread cookie flavours, ends on with a note of good bourbon. The mouthfeel is smooth, and the finish is incredible. Have two more of these on the shelf, expecting good things to come of come aging them.

Clear orange, very little bubbles, with white head that thins slowly. Scotchy malt aroma. Creamy, boozy, sweet malty scotch taste. It does warm the body on a cold night but not much complexity yet.

Steady carbonation, tiny bubbles rising through dark amber maintains a thin but even head. Aroma of baking cookies, spice, malt and soft alcohol. First sip is indeed tasty. Second mouthful has a big alcohol component. I like the gingerbread cookie and hop spice. The body is good. The alcohol seems more prominent than in past years. Instead of one every month I may pick up 2 ESBs for the same dollars. Maybe this one needs to age more than the last few years editions.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2009 Bottle (500ml) #27544. Clear burnt amber pour, solid two-finger foamy tan lasting head. Biscuity, somewhat boozy aroma, quite grainy and oddly raisin-like. The taste is a little sweet, and it seems woody, almost like a blended scotch - quite alcoholic. The mouthfeel is a little thin, it has a bit of an astringent bite, and is very well carbonated - decent, needs to mellow a lot.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2012 Bottle thanks to someone at the Bruery tasting. I have another in my cellar to age. Pours with a large, off-white head and a hazy bronze body. Aroma of figs, caramel, raisins and cereal. Taste is caramel and figs. Has a strong need to be aged. Light bubbles and a creamyish mouthfeel. One of the more aggressively bitter Fuller Vintage ales that I have had fresh.

500ml bottle from LCBO. Clean pour, amber in colour. however the taste is one dimensional. way to expensive for how bland the taste. $6/500ml
