Our 12th Vintage features two of our favourite English hop varieties, Northdown and Challenger. These, combined with floor malted Maris Otter malt, produce a rich fruit aroma laced with dark orange hop notes. A full luxurious mouthfeel is finished off with a satisfying alcohol warmth.

2008 vintage. Bottle 144922. Poured out a clear amber color, with a sticky white head. Aromas are alcohol, dark dried fruits, yeast. Flavors are alcohol, caramel, yeasty bread. Still young & hot. Needs time to mellow. Burns the back of your throat when swallowed. Decent enough beer, but too young right now.

Bottle from waitrose at home. Alround rating: full on malty fruit cake body, peppery alcohol, brandy hints from the alc, honey raisin like meadness, great carbonation, tasty and awsome stuff.

Amber colour with a decent white head. Lace clinging to glass to the very end. Malt, oak in the aroma. Liquor, whisky like notes. Rich fruity flavour. Syrupy texture. Strong malt finish. Slick ale and maybe a hint of spice. Quality ale and just what I wanted at the time.

pours a slightly cloudy deep copper color with a nice light tan head...nice retention. very traditional look. aroma is sweet and very floral...roasty caramel, bioscuity, mild bourbon and oak...nice! flavor is also slightly sweet...somewhat like a barleywine with some dark candied fruit and oak, roasty caramel, and hops in the end. mouthfeel is creamy with a complex dry caramel, oak, and hop finish. outstanding...complex, oaky, delicate yet aggressive hops, subtle sweetness, and a lingering dry finish.

Another excellent brew in this series. Pours a deep copper with thin head. Aroma of malts, dried fruits. Flavor was deep and rich with pale malts, dough, dried fruits, and a lasting finish brought on by some bittering hops. I let this one age for almost 3 years and it was worth the wait. The flavor was even better as it warmed.

Grandios!Test vom 31.10.2009, Gebinde: Glasflasche

Bottle at Caspar’s Running Toilet Tasting. Pours vibrant copper-amber with a fine, white head. Quite a bit lighter in color than older vintages. Some light, leafy and herbal hops in the nose, with notes of caramel and toast. Medium sweet flavor, sugar, caramel, mild bitterness. Medium to full bodied with a tingly, pleasant mouthfeel. Mild warming finish, candy, sugar, caramel, a bit of fruit, not too much booze. Very, very good.

Nice crisp amber pour with a thin cream head. Nose is rich malts, toffee, dough, bread, and caramel. Excellent on the palate, huge malt bomb, dried fruits, toffee, bread, light chewiness.

Pours hazy mahogany into an English pint. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Bread, roasted nuts and pit fruit aromas. Slick, thick and sweet with hot toffee, caramel and bananas flambe front to back and through the lasting mildly bitter earth finish. Yummy.
