4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 harrisoni (10070) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - JAN 30, 2012
Bottle 63349 from The Bottle Shop. I like this beer. I like this beer with a couple of years on it. Hazy deep orange amber with thick lasting beige head. Syrupy malty spicy aroma. Candied fruits fruit peel. Black pepper hop aroma. Mmmmm warm juicy lovely malts with lots of lemon and orange peel. Smooth carbonation. Good pepper hop. Good spicyness. I do like this beer. Just a touch of mustiness on aroma. But I love the fruit in the mouth. Smmoth caramel in mouth along with the fruit. Tasty as hell.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ughsmash (5833) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 29, 2012
500mL bottle, "limited edition" #134,419. Poured a nice shade of medium orange with a fingers’ worth of off-white head. The aroma picked up warm, toasty caramel and molasses with a fair dose of medium-skinned fruits present.. nice yeasty notes and light earthy character around.. really nice, and I think a couple years will make it even better. The flavor found mostly warm bread and molasses notes at the core, with sweet and tart dark fruits laced throughout.. back to the bread and molasses on the warm, also yeasty finish. Medium-plus bodied and just a little too sweet on the palate.. overall a good feel and flow.. this was good, and I’ll try it again after some aging.

4.1 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ReV2 (11) - Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - JAN 22, 2012
Bottle no. 009891, on lifting the cap the aroma hit at arms length and I don’t have a great sense of smell! Sweet, very sweet and not as malty as some of the vintages, more like Golden Ale. Intense alcohol with citrus fruits, golden syrup, pear drops, hops disguised by the sweetness. I can imagine 18th century inn keepers serving up ales similar to this. Delicious but not one of my favourite vintages, the 2005 is my best so far.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Tried early 2012. Taste and smell of carmael, nuts, fruits and a slightly boozey finish. Milder and smoother then 2010 and 2011. Better balanced then the two younger versions.

From bottle no. 144944. The pour is a handsome reddish-amber with slow bubbles, little head, but nice clarity. The aromas are noticeable as soon as it is poured into the glass. Those include malt syrup, licorice, dark fruit, and yeast. The body is smooth, creamy, and medium-bold. The taste is nice and bitter with that powerful Strong Ale maltiness and a dry finish. I have waited two years to try it.
