Vintage Ale is a truly distinguished bottle conditioned beer. Each vintage is a blend of that yearís finest malt and hops, creating a unique limited edition brew. Being bottle conditioned, it is after bottling that the flavours truly begin to develop, and continue to do so well beyond the best before date that we are obliged to state.

The 2009 Vintage features Kent grown Golding Hops and East Anglian Tipple malted barly. It has an intial aroma of rich Muscavado sugar followed by a brandied caramelised

Bottle, thanks SÝren.
Finished off with this after 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Pours completely clear amber with a nice, small, creamy, off-white head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, malts, light biscuity and with some herbal, spicy hops. Highish carbonation, fine dry mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, malty, light citric and vinious. Quite delicious but still rather young.

Bottle from Waitrose. Copper coloured with no head and moderate carbonation. Malty aroma of nuts and red fruit, with a yeasty edge and touch of orange hop. Dryish, barley sugar and citrus flavour with the alcohol fairly prominent in the finish. Slightly jammy mouth feel. Enjoyable.

Bottle - 500ml. Amber body with average carbonation and a decent off-white frothy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with bready and piny hints. Alcohol is perfectly hidden. Its sharp, robust hoppy taste carries malty, oaky, and fruity notes. Ends with a long, warming, bittersweet finish. Very good winter ale.

The aroma has a bit of metal to it and then malt. The colour is amber and it has a huge head.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2014 Bottle at Tonyís Place in Ivyland. This was a real treat. Although this beer can be even better aged, it was a great drink before dinner. Pours a rich copper red. Head is light and off white. Aroma is malt and caramel. Hops are there but not overly there. Goldings hops. Smooth and rich, alcohol is 8.5 but hardly noticed. This is a fantastic beer. I bought 2 extra to age a year or 2. Well worth it!!!

Aroma is a rich malt, some pitfruit and caramel notes, orange, with a reddish hue, pours a tiny toffee head, some lace. Flavour is a fine malt, with fruit, alcohol is noted. Full bodied, rich texture, bitter, but at this point a bit boozy. Certainly a well made offering, which time should round off the edges.

Aromas of vanilla, caramel, and most of all apple are what I noticed first. Nice medium amber-orange colour with a minimal head. Not cloudy with a lovely sparkle. A light, sweetness, minimal bitterness and a medium body that is not overpowering. A nice degree of carbonation adds just the right amount of fizz. Smooth finish. A very enjoyable beer for sure.

Bottle No. 118663. Pours a clear, brilliant copper with a good foamy light beige head. Aromas of nicely roasted caramel and floral hop. Near full bodied with really foamy carbonation. Flavor is spicey, floral hoppy over a nice roast malt. Suggests a tobacco note in a way. Also quite fruity. The spicey hot bits hit the tongue. This is a smooth and drinkable ale. Love it.

Nice packaging and bottle. Pours deep auburn with and off-white head. Smells of red licorice, caramel, candied fruits, light allspice, nuts and hints of vanilla. Flavor is a rich blend of the aromas with a hearty malt backbone and clean finish with warming alcohol. Mouthfeel was medium viscosity with smooth woody texture. A very nice ale to compliment the season.
