2009 Vintage ~ No 147097/160000
12/01/2010: Fullerís Vintage Ale 2009... Aroma: Vanilla and toffee; plenty of caramelized malts and sugars. Appearance: Hacy golden-amber color; head is thin and off-white to beige in color. Flavor: WOW! Big, strong, a bit toward the sweet side - dates, golden raisin, Hawaiian bread - toffee and caramelized caramalts. Palate: Medium to medium-full body; nice mouthfeel. Overall: Quite good, but will probably improve even more with 1-2 more years of age...

When drinking this I had to remind myself what it was and rate it also on sticking with the style. Given the age this had on it as the flavors had blended well but it was a little boozy. It had a sweet malty aroma with alcohol. It had a whiskey color with little head. Carbonation was mild. The palate was smooth and oily. The flavors were of caramelized malts with very little hops appearing. It had a sharp finish of burnt sugar or raisin with more alcohol. I think I remember liking the 2008 Vintage better.

oak on the nose and taste. dark copper colour light head. alcohol pushes through a bit. light sweetness on the taste. finish could be longer. good ale with a mature taste, good with cheeses but a bit too oaky alcohol on its own.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAY 31, 2013 Bottle from my large stash of Fullers Vintages. An orange/copper coloured pour with a thin off white head on top. Gorgeous sweet, boozy aroma of caramel, port and over ripe fruit. Tastes somewhat similar, sweet, caramel, malty, fruity, port like. This is probably at its peak and has mellowed well. Delicious.

500 ml bottle (bottle #108591) a gift from bhensonb! Nose is sweet brandy soaked raisins, hints of toffee and alcohol, and a bit of a musty old ale note. Clear copper rust color with a small beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet with only a very faint contrasting bitterness, mixed with some golden rain notes and finishing with some alcohol warmth.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma: concentrated, rich aromatic malty raisin.
Flavor: smooth caramel, raisin, orange. Doesnít finish as long as the 2007.
Comment: with only 3 years of age it is still too young, though the aroma is good. Needs 5 years minimum.

Bottle (50cl). No. 051014. Lovely, deep amber colour, slightly hazy. Half-inch, semi-sticky head, booze-like swirl, leaves some lacing. Sweet malty aroma with toffee, cookies, caramel, dried figs, hint of resin, menthol and sherry vinegar. Medium/full body, soft carbonation. Sweet taste, yet superbly balanced by a mild bitterness, some acidity and hint of salt. Long bittersweet aftertaste.

Bottle from somewhere in Blighty. Poured a slightly hazy rosy chestnut brown with a thick off white head. The aroma is rich yeasty and alcoholic. The flavour is medium to strong bitter, hugely rich, with lots of red berries and malt. A super heart warming beer to share.
