COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Vintage Ale is a truly distinguished bottle conditioned beer. Each vintage is a blend of that year’s finest malt and hops, creating a unique limited edition brew. Being bottle conditioned, it is after bottling that the flavours truly begin to develop, and continue to do so well beyond the best before date that we are obliged to state.

The 2009 Vintage features Kent grown Golding Hops and East Anglian Tipple malted barly. It has an intial aroma of rich Muscavado sugar followed by a brandied caramelised

Bottle. Poured copper color with medium white frothy head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Medium toasted malt and dough aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate to moderate duration. Good interesting brew.

Clear medium amber color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, fresh berry, prune. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Way to young have to more mature, before drinking. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090804]

An amber colored beer with a small off-white head that settles fast and leaves basically no lacings. There’s quite a lot of fruit aromas in the nose, sweetish and almost reminiscent of sweet fruit marmalade. Notes of leafy hops, wood and alcohol in the smell as well. The taste is very sweet with notes of sweet vinous fruits, dark bread and leafy and peppery hops. Here’s something that reminds me of maple syrup or resin or something. It’s very malty with decent supplementing hop notes, but the malts lack complexity and depths. The finish as some alcohol to in and is quite bitter with notes of spices and leafy hops. It has a medium body and quite a smooth texture, but the carbonation is a little bit too lively for it to come out as anything even reminiscent of a sipper. All in all, I felt this one was a bit unbalanced at the moment, kind of harsh out of tune. But with some age on it, it might very well turn to the better.

Small coarseish offwhite head doesn’t last. Amber body. Fruity caramelly wooden aroma with spicy notes. Dry-sweetish caramelly wooden oranges taste with spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Sharpish mouthfeel. Dryish fruity oranges aftertaste. Very good, but boring compared to the aged vintages. (0.5l bottle, thanks to KnutAlbert.)
