500ml bottle No. 88337 rated 02May12. Clear orange-dark golden amber colour, foam beige head that diminishes and aroma of caramel malt & orange rind. Taste is sweet caramel & toffee, tangy fruity orange, resin woody with a lingering spicy bitterness. Syrupy warming mouth feel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Side by side with the 2000 vintage. Color on this is much clear and less murky. Nose is slightly more caramel malt and less dark fruit. Taste has much more hops with a much better cleaner malt profile. The 2000 was fun to try but this for sure. The carbonation adds a lot and the 2000 was nearly flat. At some juncture you just need to drinks these. This is pretty good. Two plus years is a nice time.

500 ml bottle. Slightly hazy amber body with a fine off-white head. Relatively mild aroma of caramel malt with a hint of acetone, but not really annoying. Flavor is sweet, smooth malty, caramel and some bitterness. Fine body and a bit more pronounced bitterness in aftertaste. Pleasant and balanced.

Pours clear copper color with a small head. Aroma of sweet ripe fruits, toffee, caramel malts and some syrup. Flavor of syrup, caramel malts, sweet ripe fruits, mild toffee and wooden notes. Decent, needs some aging though.

Bottle. I tried this when it was first released, then sat on this bottle for just over 2 years. It got better for sure. Luscious bready caramel with soft raisins, marzipan, and Christmas cake flavours. Creamy smooth mouthfeel. A fantastic English strong ale.

Drank May 2011. Copper with a white head. The aroma is full of strong toffee notes with some brown sugar and dark fruit. The alcohol is also present in the aroma. The flavor has notes of toffee, brown sugar, grass and alcohol. Low bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
