COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The 2011 Vintage Ale, our 15th, is brewed with some of the finest of this yearís malt and hops. The malt grist includes a portion produced by Warminster maltings, from organic barley grown by Sir James Fuller on the Nestone Park Estate. This will be married with the choicest Goldings, Organic First Gold and award winning Sovereign hops, to produce a beer with a firm malt base, marmalade notes and a satisfying bitter finish. Individually packaged and numbered, this bottle is one of only one hundred and fifty thousand produced.

Aroma is fruits, malts and an unknown element, canít tell if its slightly musty. The flavor is fruit and has a complex maltiness. Slightly similar to an old ale, Iíve never had one of the previous years of these, this was pretty good, will have to try next yearís.

From Fosse Sainsburyís- they always check the inside of the box to make sure Iím not lifting anything (like an expensive vintage bottle of beer?), which makes me laugh. Brilliant bronze, fine white mousse. Appealing peach flan base, botanicals, marmalade, vanilla and earthy grass aroma with a little soil still attached... a pipette of acetone as it warms. A fine, boozy sipper awash with warm alcohol, marmalade, liquorice and a pronounced fennel seed note. The hops are jellied and orange-accented like Belgium; the malts fine and vanilla-like. Drinks well now considering itís intended to be aged- get it down your neck.

Poured in a pint. Golden brown and shiny. Nose : metallic and oysters ... awfull. In mouth: some appetizing malty flavours and rich dried plums notes ... but then again this terrific metallic note that spoils everything. And again in afterstaste. Letís forget that batch. I feell like I have been screwed up!

Bottle from Systembolaget. Tried early 2012. Boozey smell. Rough taste with some caramel malts in the background. This beer clearly needs to mature for at least 2 years. The rough booziness overpowers the other flavours.

Pours hazy orange with a thin white head. Aroma isnít quite as up front as Iíd like - little bit fruity and sweet. Medium bodied, carbonation is lively and dances down the back of your throat. Sweet flavours in the body of raisins and brown sugar. The hops come out in the finish with a slight alcoholic warmth. Okay in itsí youth - laid a few bottles down to try in the future.

The aroma is nothing special with sweet corn malt and alcohol. The appearance is light amber with a large head. The taste is very malty with both caramel and biscuits. The palate is smooth. Overall not what I was expecting but still pretty good.

Dark red amber, little head that fades fast. Interesting beer but no better than the ESB. Bottle and box offer something extra, but the beer itself is a bit of a disappoitment.

500ml bottle, no. 51025, at Amundsen Bryggeri & Spiseri. Large frothy beige head resting on top of a deep, dark amber coloured body. Restrained aroma of dried fruits on a semi-sweet malty backbone. Dark fruits in flavour supported by hints of dark berries, a note of almond and malty sweetness. A bit jam-like. Hop bitter ending with tingling alcohol. Nice, a bit pent-up, perhaps (Oslo, 06.01.2012)
