COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The 2011 Vintage Ale, our 15th, is brewed with some of the finest of this yearís malt and hops. The malt grist includes a portion produced by Warminster maltings, from organic barley grown by Sir James Fuller on the Nestone Park Estate. This will be married with the choicest Goldings, Organic First Gold and award winning Sovereign hops, to produce a beer with a firm malt base, marmalade notes and a satisfying bitter finish. Individually packaged and numbered, this bottle is one of only one hundred and fifty thousand produced.

0,50L. Clear amber colour with creamy light brown head. Heavy aroma of red fruits, marmelade, vanilla, caramel and some hops. There is also some cognac aroma. Taste follows the nose and at the start itís much like the taste of cognac and it turns into a moderate bitter. The power of included alcohol is noticable, but not disturbing. Full body, oily texture and soft carbonation.Excellent ale!

Slightly opaque reddish brown. Caramel and earthy aromatics- good tension there. Full bodied with a great counterbalance of toffee and bitter hops. Needs bottle age to truly shine.

Complex and rich aroma: fruits, herbal/floral, hops, biscuits, wood and rust, malt, caramel. Quite strong alcohol feel. Bitter aftertaste with alcohol warmth. Amber colour. Small head. Very fine beer.

Iím picky about what I name the colour of beers, differentiating between amber, ruby, copper, etc. This somehow wasnít any of those. The only colour I could accurately liken it to was that of dark marmalade. The head is short and creamy, off-white. íMarmaladeí is an apt description as the nose is soft citrusy orange, with hints of liquorice, burnt sugar and a little biscuity malt. Perhaps occasional peach too. For an 8.5% ABV beer the body was remarkably light and drinkable. (Fullerís similarly 8.5% ABV Golden Pride and 6.3% ABV 1845 are much fuller bodied and slooow drinkers.) A mellow hoppy orange taste not so bitter or dry, sweet but with well balanced malt body. Overall, incredibly smooth, refined and mellow for such a strong beer. Now Iím even more curious to know how it would taste after ageing!

Clear amber body with a creamy fully lasting off-white head. The aroma delivers a complex nose, with both hoppy and malty notes, sugar, and red fruits. Sweet and bitter are well balanced, more on the bitter at the end. The taste is also between hops and malts, with an oily texture and a flat soft carbonation itís a very pleasant beer at every time.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2013 New Years Eve 2012-13. Trying hard not to drink these too fresh... Amber with a nice lasting off-white head. Rich bready-toffee-biscuit malty aroma with a touch of herbal-grassy hops and marmalade fruity esters. Dry and malty flavour with a little alcohol and lots and lots of marmalade. Seems like a good year, glad to have a few in the cellar!

Again, June 20. I agree with myself, definitely a good vintage

2011 vintage. 500ml bottle into a nonic. Pours a hazy dark copper with a frothy one finger white head. Very good head retention and lacing. The aroma is full of caramel and sweet toffee with loads of figs and plums. Some orange sneaks through along with sherry. Really good depth and there is a lot going on. A huge hit of caramel up front in the taste along with some chocolate. There is a subtle smokiness in the background too. A heavy sherry note along witih plums and figs. Bready malt in there but the dark fruit really dominates. I can also detect some orange. Towards the finish, there is a quick metallic shot followed by a whiff of alcohol. Mouthfeel is fairly thick with a decent sweetness lingering after the finish. Overall, a very deep and complex beer. There is really a lot going on here in the aroma and flavor and it is a wonderful drinking experience. I really with I could try some of the other vintages.

Bottled (No 52349 from Alko Prisma, Vaasa). Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is fruity, floral and sweet malty in a very nice balance.Flavour is sweet malts, quite floral and mild toffeeish notes as well. Quite bodied though my "short rating". I predict this one to be one to save 5-10 years. Ends rather sweet malty and bodied.

Aroma of mellow citrusy hops and pine, slight yeastiness. Pours a amber orange colour with a white lasting head. Lively mouthfeel and a long finish. Nicely hoppy but balanced. Fruitiness comes through and leaves a long bitterness. Slightly peachy and a hint of marmalade. Theres a touch of alcohol warmth but mainly well hidden for the strength and style. Very good indeed!
