4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
The beer is a nice red-brown with a foam that forms a firm head - though it dissipates pretty quickly.
The aromas are malty with a lot of caramel influence of dried fruit and toffee. Add to this a slight roastiness with dark rye bread and chocolate. This is all balanced by a brandy-like fruitiness, or rather slivovitz-like with plum aromas.
The taste is slighlty sweetish and quite bitter, with some fieryness from the alcohol. Itís a big, bold beer, but - unlike what my mention of slivo might imply, itís in no way raw. Itís got bitterness and alcohol to spare, but itís a balanced and elegant boldness. I really liked this.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle No 053410. Light copper body, smallish head. Aroma has a mild hint of alcohol and then some light English hops. Taste feels a bit seawatery at first. Salty and strange. Once the saltiness subdues I can taste dried dates and white raisins, then sweet syrup and some Goldings hops. Feels kind of harsh and disintegrated. I donít think aging will make it considerably better. The 2012 one I had last year was certainly better at this stage.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
The aroma is very fruity and perhaps with age this could become an excellent brew. The taste is malty but not as thick and rich caramel as I would have expected. The flavors are there just not in the deepth youíd want... The finish is also slightly thin, perhaps more time to conjure that burt caramel and toffee flavor that is so buttery. Try the 2009 if you can find it... a much better showing. Still a good beer though.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Fullerís Vintage Ale 2013 has a thick, soapy, off-white head, a hazy, orange-copper-amber appearance, a few visible bubbles, and heavy lacing left behind, which does slide to the bottom instead of sticking to the sides of the glass. The aroma is full and pungent- sweet, sharp, bready, malt, a bit of fruit (more like fruit skin), and a touch of hop resin. Taste is all of that, with a very subdued hop bitterness to balance it out. There is a shade of alcohol coming across like barley wine. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and Fullerís Vintage Ale 2013 finishes semi-dry, surprisingly drinkable, and not particularly alcohilic. There is no harshness, here. Overall, this is a delicious beer, and certainly one not to miss. RJT

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500mL bottle, pours a clear copper with a large beige head. Nose brings out toasted nuts, toasted banana chips, English malt, and toasted caramelized bread. Flavour is similar, bringing out what reminds me of banoffee pie, with caramelized bread, banana, English malt and noticeable alcohol heat. Great mix of flavours, with a warming finish from the alcohol. Great stuff.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Bottle, 0.5 l - No 028209, from Alko, 20140222) The beer poured deep copper coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized, almost white and it lasted long. Aroma had malts, molasses, toasted nuts, caramel and sweet hops. Palate was medium bodied and dryish with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, molasses, caramel, toasted nuts, sweet hops malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had malts, toffee, sweetness and bitterness. The beer was too young but it already showed a nice aging potential. When the harsh sweet components have softerned the beer will very likely be a real enjoyment to drink.
