50cl bottle, Alko. Nr #029223. Deep mahogany color, thin white head. Honey sweetness, marmelade and ripe fruits in aroma. Marmelade in flavor as well, raisins, plums. Very smooth, warming finish. Not very complex, but I like the smoothness, enjoyable to drink.

Motobashi (68) - Windsor, Ontario, CANADA - APR 25, 2014
Poured a hazy, deep apricot amber with a thin offwhite head. Citrus and caramel notes. Lively carbonation. Sweet up front. Moderately bitter finish. The alcohol is evident, but not over powering. Nice.

This one I got thanks to czar. Pours a nice and clear copper with not much of a head but what is there leaves some nice lacing. Nose is of raisins and brown sugar, some alcohol. Taste is sweet but also bitter, caramel and dried fruits. Alcohol is noticeable but not disturbing. Body is medium-full, carbonation low. Mouthfeel is oily x syrupy and really just nice for a barleywine. Good one!

Bottle. Pours a beautiful deep red clear liquid with a nice off white head. aroma: sweet fruity, raisins and caramel. Taste, sweet with a nice caramelly note. A lot of fruit flavors, alcohol is well hidden. Really nice

Bottle. #102676. Rich amber beer with a dark cream head. Red fruit and malt aroma. Malt and light caramel flavor with light dark fruit. Medium bodied. Malt and caramel lingers with light dark fruit and light earth.

The beer is a nice red-brown with a foam that forms a firm head - though it dissipates pretty quickly. The aromas are malty with a lot of caramel influence of dried fruit and toffee. Add to this a slight roastiness with dark rye bread and chocolate. This is all balanced by a brandy-like fruitiness, or rather slivovitz-like with plum aromas. The taste is slighlty sweetish and quite bitter, with some fieryness from the alcohol. Itís a big, bold beer, but - unlike what my mention of slivo might imply, itís in no way raw. Itís got bitterness and alcohol to spare, but itís a balanced and elegant boldness. I really liked this.

thirstyrabbit (1100) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - APR 8, 2014
Bottle No 053410. Light copper body, smallish head. Aroma has a mild hint of alcohol and then some light English hops. Taste feels a bit seawatery at first. Salty and strange. Once the saltiness subdues I can taste dried dates and white raisins, then sweet syrup and some Goldings hops. Feels kind of harsh and disintegrated. I donít think aging will make it considerably better. The 2012 one I had last year was certainly better at this stage.

The aroma is very fruity and perhaps with age this could become an excellent brew. The taste is malty but not as thick and rich caramel as I would have expected. The flavors are there just not in the deepth youíd want... The finish is also slightly thin, perhaps more time to conjure that burt caramel and toffee flavor that is so buttery. Try the 2009 if you can find it... a much better showing. Still a good beer though.

Sweet with aromas and taste of dried fruit. Mild bitterness on the finish. I have kept a few for the years to come. Other years have proven to age wuite nicely. 20072008, 2009, 2012
