4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a gorgeous mahogany redish brown with a big, frothy beige head. Lovely spicy, golding aroma, with solid caramel, cereal malts. The mouthfeel is thick and luscious, the alcohol is present, but not over bearing, just a tad warming and spicy. The finish is grassy with mote subtle spicing from the hops. One of the best fresh fullers vintage ales ive had.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Clearish brilliant dark copper with a wee white cap. Lovely nose of honey and toasted biscuit, with some lavendar and toast. Strong flavor featuring earthy toasted biscuits and honey and lavender and a certain boozy warmth, with some light sugar cane and light oak tones. Very full and nice and sweet and calming. A fireplace sipper without the giant strength.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Waitrose Headington, Oxford, consumed at home Sunday 22nd December 2013 This is absolutely superb, top draw stuff from Fullers. We had this alongside a Rochefort 10 and clearly whilst they are not the same beer there were many similarities, its got a nice spicy peppery warmth, its got some lovely dark, dark sticky sugars. Despite its age its smoother at this stage than many of the previous vintages. Serving this in a Belgian chalice certainly didnít didnít any harm either, Loz (a big Rochefort 10 fan) was struck by the similarities as well. A little barley sugar, there is also a little curly bitterness, its damn good vintage, loved it! A8 A4 T9 P4 Ov17 4.2

500ml bottle from the LCBO. Deep orange with a small off white head. Perhaps the best fresh vintage Iíve had. Certainly the best Iíve had in recent memory. Marmalade and hops mmmmmmmm. Lovely drop. HoHoHo

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
The beer is a nice red-brown with a foam that forms a firm head - though it dissipates pretty quickly.
The aromas are malty with a lot of caramel influence of dried fruit and toffee. Add to this a slight roastiness with dark rye bread and chocolate. This is all balanced by a brandy-like fruitiness, or rather slivovitz-like with plum aromas.
The taste is slighlty sweetish and quite bitter, with some fieryness from the alcohol. Itís a big, bold beer, but - unlike what my mention of slivo might imply, itís in no way raw. Itís got bitterness and alcohol to spare, but itís a balanced and elegant boldness. I really liked this.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 10, 2013 500ml 2013 vintage bottle, pours cloudy dark amber with a medium beige head. Aroma of apricots, maple syrup, raisins, plums and herbs. Taste is similar to the aroma, strong and complex also with some sweetness and a hint of liquorice, possibly dark muscovado sugar. Warming as it is high on alcohol, however you canít taste or smell it. Medium body with thick creamy texture and low carbonation. The beer also comes in a very appealing presentation-box and bottle. Very pleasant and luxurious to sip, like a glass of fine cognac.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle No. 105177. From The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark copper with a foamy yellow/beige head. Aromas of malt, darkish fruit and leather. Med + body. Flavor is roasty malt, a little brown sugar, something suggesting dates, notes of peppery spice. Very smooth. Brown sugar tries to come out, but thereís something hoppy that makes it less than sweet. Certainly not dry, but nicely hopped. Very, very good drink.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Fullerís Vintage Ale 2013 has a thick, soapy, off-white head, a hazy, orange-copper-amber appearance, a few visible bubbles, and heavy lacing left behind, which does slide to the bottom instead of sticking to the sides of the glass. The aroma is full and pungent- sweet, sharp, bready, malt, a bit of fruit (more like fruit skin), and a touch of hop resin. Taste is all of that, with a very subdued hop bitterness to balance it out. There is a shade of alcohol coming across like barley wine. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and Fullerís Vintage Ale 2013 finishes semi-dry, surprisingly drinkable, and not particularly alcohilic. There is no harshness, here. Overall, this is a delicious beer, and certainly one not to miss. RJT
