bottle from Bierpost. Golden yellow with a tall white head. Lovely and promising hop aroma, resiny and slightly fruity. Good malty base to support the robust and aromatic hops. Resiny and slightly citrusy, quite powerful. Delicious and very moreish.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sparkling clear golden with lasting white bubbles on top. Aroma is hop centred, citrus, grass. Chalky tinge to it too? Taste is much more malty - grains and biscuits, with little hop flavour really. Bitterness, yes, all the way through. Well made beer, but I’m not sure the English-version-of-an-American-version-of-an-Engli experiment is one that needed to be undertaken.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Golden-orange colored with a frothy white fast vanishing head. Aroma is hoppy fruity with citrus and orange peel. The flavor is underdeveloped and cannot hold what the smell promised. The taste is light to medium bitter with good bitter finish. The body is very light almost to thin with high carbonation and a somewhat unpleasant to sparkling mouth-feel.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Maker: Fuller, Smith & Turner PLC (Fullers), Chiswick, London ***
Beer: Wild River (bottled, 500ml) ***
Style: American Pale Ale ***
ALC.VOL.: 4.5% ***
"Wild River is a double-hopped pale ale, inspired by some of the finest craft brewers from the USA, bursting with citrus hop flavours. Brewed to 4.5% ABV, the beer uses some of the best known hop varieties from the West Coast of the US — Liberty, Willamette, Cascade and Chinook." [brewery notes] ***
Colour: Bright golden orange; big, creamy off-white head. ***
Nose: Strong floral notes, lemon-grass, yeast. ***
Texture: Medium body, not watery. Medium carbonation. ***
Taste: Floral and bitter hoppy notes dominate the start, with a whiff of citrus above. Surprisingly strong malt base. More bitterness and malt towards the middle, with some resinous and herbal elements. Finish still explicitly bitter, with succeeding floral notes. Afteraste citrusy, malty and bitter. Long-lasting. ***
Impressions: Maltier than most US-made APAs, this is another winner from the folks in Chiswick: More depth than many APAs/IPAs, appealingly bitter and hoppy, with the citrus fruit mostly relegated to the background. Recommended!

Pale amber colored, clear and sparkling, medium white head with nice lacing and good retention. Aroma is malty, some biscuit and lemon grassy and citrusy hops. Taste is low to moderate sweet caramel malt, biscuit, lemon, grapefruity, bit grassy, moderate bitterness, dry finish. Medium- bodied, medium carbonation. Zesty, refreshing and inviting you to partake in another sip... or pint!
